I wonder why young people aren’t being taught a lot of things. I’ll stop there before I go off on a rant.

    Morning all:

It appears that young people are being taught a lot of things, just not the same things that most of us were taught!
    I better stop there too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:pccoffee: Good Morning Porch Pals and Sue! Only one word for this weekend - ICK!:rain: Colder than when I went to bed, and raining. (We'll take the rain if it's going to be ugly anyway) Wind chill supposed to be 30 today. Aren't I glad I got the greenhouse done when I did? Yes, I are.

Think some trainings all around could serve everyone, guys! We have only a blood mobile, that "randomly" shows up on the Courthouse square. You think they could put the schedule on City social media? Or maybe our weekly newspaper? Nope.

Hoping the real and correct Longhorns show up in Kansas today! Hook 'Em!

Morning boys.... I would love to be donating blood.... they didn't want mine after living in Europe during the mad cow years. Can't now due to meds. :(

Sunny and chilly here..... make it a good day.

Good morning people aged to perfection, It took more than a week to finally get a negative COVID test but just in time. I had my 3rd grandchild born this week. Mom and granddaughter had a rough delivery so they've been in the hospital for 5 days now. I think they get to go home tomorrow and I get to hold her. I'm pretty excited.

I hope you all are getting ready for Thanksgiving. I tried to get reservations to a high-end hotel downtown but within 1 hour of opening, all slots were filled. So are about every other place. I don't mind cooking dinner for everyone but my wife doesn't care anymore. My wife is more unhappy that I don't have a huge home with a 24 person table in a large dinning room to take everyone in. My niece called and asked if her family of 5 could drive 40 miles and join us. Her immediate family lives out of state. Of course I'm happy to have them come. I make due by setting up 2 Lifetime tables in the living room or downstairs in the family room. The frozen turkey is in the 20'x20' refrigerator called a garage since the temps are in the 30's this week. I'm brining and smoking the a turkey on the Campchef smoker again. They turn out great after injecting the hell out of it with tons of butter and seasonings then stuffing it with apples and oranges. I'll make my famous pumpkin/pecan pie with another straight pumpkin to go with it.

    Have a great day everyone.

Thanksgiving is a very family-centric tradition. I think it's important for younger generations to participate in traditions, so when you're gone, they'll carry on those traditions in your absence.
Invite them all. Give them all tasks. Carve that bird, use the proper ratio of butter and milk in your mashed potatoes, and pour yourself the beverage of your choice (have options for others - no one needs to drive), and take in all of it.
Controlled anarchy - let the young ones play, the adults talk and laugh, and everyone... give them a place to crash someplace on the floor when the tryptophan and/or spirits kick in.

Forgot - congrats on the new addition to your family. Health and happiness to all.

To answer your question, I doubt if most people realize the importance of giving blood. I only have 2 more years of giving blood left. The first time I donated another young soldier needed blood for the surgery to help him live after being wounded in combat. Sort of drives the benefits home, and I have been donating ever since.

    Arm Pic from this morning.

I used to enjoy giving blood. During my military, I'd schedule for a Friday and get liberty for a long weekend, and a $5 bill from the collection center. Get a quick tipsy at the bar across the street from the donation center. After my service was over, I was more into the good my donation was doing, till I found out that where I was donating was going to a for-profit research company, as I do have a rare blood type. That was a turn off, and I stopped for some years. After rejoining the blood drive, a medical condition soon excluded me from the list of donors again, and now I'm too old. My whole life with a rare blood type that wasn't able to help anyone.

I gave blood regularly until they started excluding those who we’re in the UK for 90+ consecutive days in the 80’s (mad cow). I was there 93 days. I’m really bummed they never developed a test to allow people back in if they didn’t have it.

They won’t tell me my blood type unless I donate. Well, it could be helpful in a emergency.
    I can’t donate. So I’ll never know….

Ever hear the saying? "The rain in Spain falls mainly on the plain". Not true! Been here a week and nowhere near a plain, and been raining every day, didn't even bring a raincoat!

    Morning all:

Congratulations on the new grandchild Bryan!

My grandmother's old Victorian mansion that I spent the first nine years of my life in had a huge antique dining room table that you could add a leaf or two to it, it also had a beautiful crystal chandelier above it, plenty of room for a large gathering but I never saw it anywhere near full capacity, maybe somewhere between 1888 and 1920 it was full, but I wasn't around to see it.

If serious, the next physical ask the doc to have them give you your blood type.

:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl: Made my morning read! Hope the rain stop for you.

Good morning. Found out last night that one of the musicians we see when we go out for dinner and music is a Vietnam Vet. We had a decent chat. His drummer is also a retired Navy Captain. It was a good evening. I had a red snapper with lemon cream sauce, steamed veggies and a rice. Blood sugar was a decent 126 this morning.

I think Christmas is coming out of the attic today and I told my son I want the snow blower in the garage so I can do some maintenance. Poor Tacoma is once again out in the driveway in the elements.
