Other than that I bought the parts on EBay instead of from the dealership, no. I’ll ask when I pick the truck up from the shop.

See if you can get what's left of the old belt. Maybe someone will be able to tell if it was OEM Toyota.

Why wouldn't you have been able to set TDC? It's simple enough.

Shops out here charge$1600-$1800. The only reason I know is that I often call to see what they'll charge for the work I'm about to do so I can tell my wife how lucky she is to have me and don't be upset I just bought a $1000 scan tool and a $100 bottle of scotch to celebrate how much money I just saved us.

I am a novice when it comes to fixing cars. I have been able to replace suspension parts and other things. I have watched YouTube videos on how to replace timing belt but just don't trust myself. Maybe one day

Update: The timing belt tensioner was the point of failure. Shop replaced tensioner, TB and water pump and I'm back on the road.

Live long enough, mess with enough vehicles, do some legit drag racing, Solo ll racing, break and fix stuff and pay attention. You'll get fairly good at some internet diagnostics too. :D
