I had to remove the header rail to install my BAKflip tonneau (just to add the foam pads that block water entering). It was super easy.
But now I have to look if I can take it off without completely removing the tonneau mounting rails. That's not difficult but can still take a while (as it would be like installing the cover all over again).

    Enough for now
Take your time and use the right torx bit.
I did not and stripped two of the bolts immediately and then took the rest of the afternoon getting them out.

if you can unscrew a screw and screw it back in you are certified....the same 5 screws that hold on the top of bed piece are used for the rail, its a star head, nuts might be behind there but are welded on or something .. no need to get behind bed .......it is set up for the rail they just dont put one on there on the 3rd gen

Bought brand new Tacoma all weather mats for $20 from an ad- while I was driving 1.5 hours in one direction, my buddy grabbed me some brand new in-channel AVS window visors for $30 from a guy in the opposite direction. Pretty good deals for about $190 worth of stuff.

    Factory lift kit
I had dealer install OEM lift. I installed LED bed lights, I replaced TRD OR rock guard with TRD PRO rock shield. WeatherTech rain guards. Replaced TRD 4x4OR wheels and tires with TRD PRO wheels and 265/75/16 Nitto Ridge Grapplers. OEM LED headlights might be next. C5BB0354-D641-42CE-9245-EC0F56E3E96C.jpg

Fr pass door handle replace, Tyger step rails and soft bed cover, DDSS3 fogs, TRD skid, OR front tow hook, SokieTech hood struts, fr seat covers (neoprene), metal oil filter housing, magnetic oil plug, Cyclone under hood lights, Blue Sea Systems 5025 Fuse Block ST Blade 6 Circuit with Ground and Cover, Blue Sea Systems 60A DC Panel Mount circuit breaker.
And they don’t need gorilla strength torque. I managed to strip one of mine and had to dremel a screwdriver slot into it to remove.

My big project for the day...LOL.
$17 exhaust tip from Advance Auto. Had some stupid ugly chrome plate with brand name riveted on it. Drilled the rivets out and this is what I ended up with. Left some holes, but still looks better than the chrome plate that was on there. Now just to wait until it gets as dirty as the rest of the truck. :D

agreed, two of the bolts would not come out and finally broke loose after some determination and like you a dremel . I used loctite when i installed the header rail so keep me from ever thinking of messing with it again. Also two are stripped and now flat head bolts
