You use this on the black exterior trim? And it works okay? Does it leave everything oily or greasy?

Wave it til’ she *just barely* starts to shine, and ‘sweat’ ever so slightly appears, then get off it.

it’s an art for sure, but can bring pieces back from the dead.

(find a junk plastic piece - old mud guard, front valance and practice)

I tried this but I just couldn’t get her to shine or sweat, so I just went to bed… :anonymous:

Just an update for anyone that might give a shit. Like a dummy, I parked my new-to-me 4runner in the same spot where the truck was and my flare melted on the 4runner too. Turns out ot definitely was the window on the shed, The sun was reflecting off of it and basically melting anything in its path.

I only confirmed it when I was standing there with shorts on and my leg almost caught on fire from the glare.

Bummer for the 4-runner. At least you finally got this figured out.

That window must be acting like a Archimedes lens of sorts.. good grief that's a lot of damage! You can see the progression of the sun by the defined lines melted into the plastic. Is that a 3rd gen T4R?

It took me forever to find those flares in good condition too. But yeah, shouldn't happen again now that I boarded up the window

Yep, The lines were even more pronounced on the Tacoma flare. And yes, 2000 4runner I picked up as a project a few months ago.
