    My other half's parents live in Torrance, closer to PV. Just got back from there about an hour ago. Went to her Aunts funeral on Thursday. About an 30 min after we were on the 405 (going to the funeral), this happened;

It's called real life GTA... When he broke into that house and stole their truck I thought he might actually have a chance of getting away.

Cowboy fan in CA, fits the mold around here. I’m very likely in the minority for this site but this chase is the prime example of why I 100% support the OEMs installing remote shutdown software in new vehicles.

pretty certain the homeowner fired a few rounds through the windshield right as he plowed through the driveway gate. No mention of it in the telecast though, we don’t want CA residents knowing someone was legally armed & using deadly force.

Who has that much energy after 3pm on a weekday? Get this man a job delivering the mail or something constructive. I don't think meth was involved.

Only way to top that is to roll down the passenger side window and thread the strap through the cab.

Or the fact that that’s a Ford Maverick unibody and has a maximum towing capacity of 5000lbs.

Think it would be squatting more. That one looks like an FX4, so I guess it's AWD I don't what it takes to get the AWD to put more power to the rear, but the front wheels probably won't be getting much traction and trying to steer is going to be fun.

    That Trailer Is 8800 Lbs

Maverick max tow is 4000 lbs.

Would've been a hoot if he'd had to make an emergency stop.

The Ecoboost engines make serious torque, but this is insanity.

^The article said the trailer brakes were effective. Probably why the driver lived to tell the tale.

I was off 4k towing is correct.

Ford is in line for my $25k :anonymous: I can’t get a new Tacoma 4 door for that much money; 277lbft of torque in that little weekender truck would be fun.

I've driven a FWD ecoBoost model and an AWD ecoBoost model.

The FWD version could fog for mosquitos with the amount of tire smoke it generates if you turn off the traction control.

The AWD version is surprisingly quick. With a $500 tune I'm sure it would be actually fast.

Since I'm not really looking for a truck in a high performance vehicle, if Ford did the AWD in a hybrid I'd probably be in line after the initial round of Gotta Get It Firsts stop driving the markups.

They don't look bad with a 2" lift and decent tires. I much prefer the lower lift with tires that fill the wheelwells over a large lift/large tires.

So the Honda Ridgeline is shit and not worthy of purchase but people are falling all over themselves to get a Maverick.

^Apparently being smaller, cheaper, and looking less like a minivan outweighs the reduced reliability.

People complain about plastic oil filter caps on the 3rd gen. I wonder what they have to say about the Maverick's plastic oil pan.

    That's debatable.

Also, since when do Americans like smaller vehicles?

F150s have had plastic oil pans since about 2018. I'd never buy one but most people don't seem to mind, if they even know.

Also debatable as the current most reliable mid size trucks are the Honda Ridgeline and the Ford Ranger.

So the Ranger doesn't drop valves like the Bronco does? Interesting

It's funny because the plastic filter cover takes heat better than the old aluminum ones and is arguably more reliable. Not that the old ones had any issues. They're more aesthetically pleasing to handle

That isn't true. Where are you getting that from? While the rangers are by no means bad they definitely racking up more regular maintenance issues than the Nissan Frontier and the Toyota Tacoma.

Of course if you look at total numbers then yes they are super reliable. But if you have to look at them as a percentage of total sales. The rangers sells abysmally so it's going to have less total repairs because they're just aren't as many of them out there.
And the Ridgeline is a suburban dead minivan. Being that it's not made for toughness at any direction, it isn't used as such and therefore shouldn't be falling apart. Honda does a pretty good job with their engineering for the most part.

    Still not a truck :D
