Tired of 5100's Options ?

Bought this 07 DC 4x4 Off Road that has 5100's the front are set high as possible, they squeak, and the truck rides like a log wagon. What can i replace this junk with, that will lift, level, and ride better ? Killin' me.

 

set the bill's at zero and install ome 885 coil.....3 inch lift

 

OME 885 coil will work with stock strut nothing else needed just the OME coil and the front will get 3" lift ?

 

might need a small topplate spacer but otherwise yes

 

IMO just buy the Toytec OME 3" lift. I have it and love it....

 

They wll, but they will ride terribly because the stock shock is not valved to properly dampen the stiffer spring.

I'd use the billy's @ zero in conjunction with the 885's.

 

sorry about any confusion but i thought the OP meant the 5100 with the 885s not stock strut/shock

 

OP stated he has Bilstein 5100s. I believe he does because he mentioned having them at the highest setting. Stock shocks can't be adjusted. Either that or the OP has done something he's not telling us about.

You've got a couple options, you could keep the Bilsteins and add a different coil like mentioned above. The 885 sounds like it would do what you're looking for. The Eibach coil with the Bilstein 5100's set at .85 would work also but might not get you all the way to 3". Another route is to go with a completely new set-up like the OME kit or one of the adjustable coilover set-ups.

 

Correct but I was just clarifying because he specifically used the phrase "stock shocks"...well "stock strut" actually.

 

Sorry for all the confusion. The truck is stock except for the 5100's ( back breakers ) looking for economical alternative that will fit without complications, want to lower front shocks but still have 2-3 inch lift. Just want it to ride better.

To maintain the 2-3" of lift, 885's would be a good option for a double cab.

 

I don't see why you guys are telling him a higher spring rate spring will ride better.

The truth was spoken long ago -- if you want a stock ride, restore the stock ride height.

 

Although, you don't tell us WHERE the ride is rough.

If you're talking about on the street, my advice stands.

But if you're trying to improve the ride in high speed off road situations, well then you have a variety of options. But you'll have to do the rear also.

 

Thinking restore stock shocks, add a toytec 3". These 5100's got to go besides, a friend did the same with stock and the truck rides great !
