    I was also upset with them making Gandalf very weird. However, if you had spent the last forever in Valinör speaking with Nienna and living close to Irmo; landing in the midst of stupid Harfoots would make you act a little weird too.

    I also understand that Galadriel was too manly, if viewed from the idea that they wrote her as a human with a score to settle.

    But, if you take into the account her brother's loss, the loss of Valinör and her obsession with finding Sauron. Then, you get a nuanced character full of grief, revenge and wanting to push everyone away so she doesn't get close and experience the loss again and again.

    No, I just think the glow and etherealness PJ tried to go for in the movies for her and all the elves was overdone.

    The only one that felt real, in LotR, was Elrond.

    My timeline question comes into play at this point. She's married and she has kids by this point, right? So the withdrawing from everyone doesn't fit for me. Again, she came across as very human and not very elvish. She has the wisdom not to give feanor the strands of her hair before all this, it just doesn't match the wisdom I am expecting at this point.

    I get where you're coming from, I just don't think it realistically plays out in the way we saw.
