I have a 2022 sr5 Tacoma v6 double cab with five foot bed. I love the truck, but the tires are kind of bland looking. I don't want to spend over $3,000 for the lift from Toyota. I'm thinking about putting a more aggresive looking tire. It has 245/75/16. I'm thinking staying with that size with a more aggresive tread or going to a 265/70/16 with the aggresive tread. I like the gap between the tire and the wheel well. A 265/75/16 fills in that gap too much for me. Thanks, any thoughts on that?

Since you seem focused on form over function, its all up to you.....

On a serious note, OP, there are a million threads on here about tires. Use your favorite search engine. The site’s search engine leaves a lot to be desired. I can tell you that my TRD Off Road came with 265/70r16 from the factory and I believe all the TRD trims also come with 265mm width tires from the factory. They will fit just fine on your SR5. You have many larger options to chose from as well, but some will require modifications.

    Welcome to the forum :hattip:

Keep in mind that more aggressive tires tend to make more noise and cut down on fuel economy if those are concerns.

Plug your tire sizes in here: That will help you get a visual on the size changes.

BTW: I always vote for white letters out.

Go online to some tire websites, look and see what you like. Most online retailers have customer reviews. Start reading the worst reviews first. See what fits your budget. I think the 265/70 would be a good choice for you but keep in mind a bigger tire with an aggressive tread will cost you gas mileage.

Welcome to the forum. Opinions on tires are like bellybuttons, everyone has one! I snagged a deal on some tires from Les Schwab which is a Pacific Northwest tire retailer. The tires are snowflake rated and are actually quieter than the GoodYear tires that came on the truck. So far I’ve put 4K on them and really like them.

Think of how you drive your truck and where you spend the most time, then decide. The more aggressive off-road tires will make you give up some street manners in order to get that off-road performance. If you're like me and spend 95% of your time on pavement, the drone of an aggressive all terrain or mud terrain tire will get old very quickly. If the only time you spend on pavement is driving to the trails then that's another matter entirely.

I’ve always had good luck with Kumho tires, they wear a bit quick but then again at the price point it’s completely acceptable for me.

As for fuel mileage, I just swapped a set of worn out Michelin LTX for Goodyear Ultra Terrain and lost 3mpg.

265/70r16 is a good tire size. That paired with an AT will serve you well and give you the more aggressive look you want.

BFG KO2, Falcon wild peak AT3, or General Grabber AT2. Those are some to take a look at.

245/75/16 is a 'skinny' tire. The TRD OR stock size is 265/70/16 which is the same circumference but a wider tire. Your speedo/mileage will still be accurate, but it will be a 'beefier' tire.

New to Tacoland. Thanks for the thread!
Just ordered a set of 265/70/16 Grabber ATX's to replace the dry rotted 245/75/16's that came with it
Used to love them on my Jeep.
    So stoked :D

The Toyo tires that come with the sr5 are really good tires. I’d stick with them until they wear out if you just drive pavement

Had a JK pull up beside me at an intersection running 40's. She pulled up on me quick, scared the chit out of me I thought Bogfoot was about to roll over me. What a spectacle.

To the OP, if you're looking for a really aggressive tire with superb road manners I highly recomend these. Absolutely ride like on glass pavement and are very quiet for how aggressive they are.
