Spotted a 2022 Hilux in San Antonio, Texas??

I spotted what looked to be possibly a 2022 Hilux in San Antonio, Texas. Idk if it was a 2022, but it definitely was a Hilux. I didn't get any pics, because the flow of traffic was about 75+ on Loop 410, and I was driving. Is this old news, or did I witness this thing called a glitch? Because last I heard, they weren't releasing this thing in the U.S. Or did they?

 

It's pretty easy for Mexicans to cross the border with their Hilux and drive around the southern states.

I occasionally see a Hilux here in Denver, CO with Chihuahua plates.

 

I didn't even think about that. I forget they sell the hilux down there. Is the tacoma still manufactured there? Do they sell tacomas there too?

 

They sell both there. The Mex-spec Hilux has some overlap where it's highest trim is close to the Tacoma's SR5, but generally speaking it's a bare bones truck.

Oddly enough, I saw a Mexican plated vehicle up in Maryland. It’s a common occurrence in SoCal, but so far north is a rarity.

 

There are several places that Toyota makes the Tacoma - Baja is one. San Antonio is another.

 

See them pretty frequently here in San Diego.

 

I've seen two different ones in town this year and both in the walmart parking lot on 410 and Military. One white and they other looked mgm.

 

Used to. All of them are made south of the border now.
