All this talk of campers lately.... anyone know anything about these? Seems super cheap compared to the others on the market, although they haven't really released much info so who knows. I dig the layout and options.

Another neat new camper. All the extras are seem like they should just be included. The shocks on the bed would be a cool addition to clear some room. The extra angle on the window maybe problematic? Doesnt look like its a tight angle for the water run off, might puddle like a canopy imo.

I've been chatting with a guy over on ExpedPortal who has first hand contact with the owner, Kyle.

I've expressed a few concerns to him. Some things seem overlooked or poorly designed.

I am interested to see where these go. They are immensely cheap at the start, so if you really want one I would try to get in there ASAP and preorder. They may only be 5,000 (preorder) or 6,000 (after preorder) for a limited amount of time.

Nice too see the options though as well as the low starting price. Not everyone wants to go spend 10k on a camper/ tent setup. For 5k and the basics you could build it out or diy it as you go and probably save yourself money in the long run. Curious on the quality of it though. The bed lift is pretty slick. The window can't be worse than the rtt's with similar design.

I'm all for options in the truck camper space...hopefully it drives the prices down a little, or at least has some manufacturers thinking about making some options standard.

Definitely looks like they went a cheaper route for some of their designs. Gotta wonder what longevity issues they'll have. However, not everyone needs a 4 season or lifetime camper. If it's going to last as long as any other rtt type application for a fraction of the price of a gfc or similar camper, I'd be interested for sure.

Agree, just the basic box and pop-up would be a nice start for a cheaper option. Definitely do some diy vs. add to the cost up front. The side gear box is handy as well.

Ok, radio coms neophyte. What is the pringles can looking antenna? Scrolling through the Canyonlands 2022 thread, I see @TailHook has one, and know that you all required GMRS coms, but no one else is running that style antenna. Is it a cell signal booster? Most of the Midlands antennas are some length and a helix.

So, the FCC has the GMRS $35 license, I should do that and start looking into a coms system? At a prior job, we had radios in the field trucks, which via repeaters could reach across the state of Nebraska. GMRS most likely?

midland has a stubby +3db antenna. Also has the tall whippy +6db one. The pringles can on a stick is a WeBoost cell booster.

Yes, GMRS can bounce repeaters. I can hit the Payson one from Flagstaff and bounce to PHX and talk to people down there.

Yep...Weboost antenna. First real field test and it worked well considering where we were...I usually run sat comms to communicate with home port, though.

For trail comms I use GMRS (I'm also a ham)...Yaesu 400XDR with a MARS mod is my main radio. The GMRS license used to be $70/10 years...

Thanks - I was looking at the WeBoost system for my camper. That way my wife could work a bit and pay for the trip we are on!

    Thanks -

Our recent road trip to Indiana had us using my iPhone as a hot spot, her working remotely whilst driving through northern NM, OK and Kansas. Figured out the high power USB-C for her laptop before the trip, so were good there. But that obviously wouldn't work N. Rim/GSENM area. I had the PTO, she didn't need to us any!

Does anyone have Camburg UCA's with their new X-Joint installed in them?

I have their older version, which originally used a Moog BJ. I talked with Camburg and they said their new X-Joint would fit, but they do not appear to be the same size. I don't want to tear this apart only to find out it doesn't fit.

    See the attached photos.

The nut on my current BJ is 26 mm. The nut on the new X-Joint is only 22 mm, which also gives me concern. There does not seem to be a substantial step down in the chamfered portion of the joint (that sits in the spindle) to the threads for the nut.

All I need is a photo of your UCA with the upper cap removed, so I can tell if the top portion of the X-Joint really does sit inside of the UCA itself a bit.

    Thank you

    Smaller diameter top portion

This helped finalize my decision. Was up in the air between the convenience of ECGS and quality of Zuk. Quality over convenience it is. He is supposed to call me later today to discuss the details. I’m won’t be doing it until spring but parts will have to be collected anyways.
