    This right here. The issue is heat and the stock pistons will not stand for it. @Athlaos has been approaching the grooved shaft level but I think his living conditions are possibly more supportive.
    @australian hilux tread gently if you have a stock lower end.

    Finishing up my install of the JBA headers, AFE stock replacement y pipe, new denso coils and o2 Sensors. A couple weeks ago I slapped on a 3" magnaflow turn down exhaust but it's a tad louder than I thought. Has the usual 1800rpm whirring but that's mostly my fault. After regearing I'm sure the whirring will shift elsewhere. Until then vibrant resonator.     Thanks for the tips guys. Now I’m nervous as hell. Lol! I’ll chat to the Dyno guy and ask him for more torque than kw and not to go over board. My aim here is more pulling power as I tow a lot. So hopefully with that, he can keep the engine safe. I’ll keep you fellas posted when it all happens.

    What are your current mods? For now if it's torque you want I would look into changing the gear set in the axle.

    No mods to the engine at all. I did change the diff gears a while ago which definitely helped. I’m honestly happy with how the car goes now but also keen just to see if I can squeeze a tad more for fun

    I would address the fueling and cooling first before adding a smaller pulley. Just my 2¢

    Correction: the only mod I’ve done is a bigger fuel pump. I’ll see what the Dyno guys says as I’ve told him not to push her too far. But I’m definitely cautious now after hearing everything in this chat. Lol

    As a guy on his second engine…..I’d hold at the 2.5 pulley, with headers.

    Agreed. No sense in spinning the engine to the moon because that'll kill your drive bearings insanely quick.

    I stepped back from the 2.6" to 2.7" pulley with stock internals, but I also live at ~5500' elevation and usually only go to thinner air.

    First timer here... with a header other than turbo manifolds. Does anyone get a spicy note when on boost? Most of the time it sounds good cruising but on boost, sounds like a electric driver, an additional tone I'm not sure I've heard. Could be cuz it's vibrating against something..

    Stay under 4k engine RPMs and you’ll be fine. 28k SC RPMs at redline is singing! But I doubt you hit that mark due to belt slip.

    May I ask why? In relative terms, we're neighbors. I live at about 7000' elevation, and do most of my driving between 6000' and 8000'. I'm on a 2.5" pulley and don't see any more than ~5-6psi boost at WOT (which rarely happens). Isn't that about what our blowers (and engines) are rated for (albeit at sea level)?

    That’s about similar peak I am seeing at sea levels with my URD 2.85” stealth pulley and analog SpeedHut gauge. 7 maybe a few tenths more
