I like this guy’s videos. Great channel for Toyota peeps. One of very few YouTubers who offer real explanations, as opposed to “butt dyno” type videos by would-be influencers.

I watched that earlier today and was impressed. His videos both support what I already suspected to be true of an over discussed topic, but also teach me something new.

    2 different things
Alignment/UCA max and CV angle max. (And “max” is used lightly)

2.5” is max unless you want to replace “alignment” parts. (Like UCA)
2” in this instance has to do with CV axles.

    Apples and Oranges.

His videos are excellent. He puts a lot of time into taking things apart, measuring, and explaining the real science behind the technology. He ends up debunking a lot of bullshit in the process. Highly recommend.

The posted video is about diff drops. Did you watch a different video?

I think you missed the point of the video. In any case, I don't think there is a standard max lift height. 2-2.5" is often repeated as a good rule of thumb. The optimal number depends on your goals and setup.

Twelve inches, in front. Six inches in back. How do I do this?

So no need to do a diff drop then... I could have saved some money I guess...

I am a firm believer of 2” front and rear, removal of sway bar, Proper line selection and some skids will get you anywhere. Mixed with 265/75r16 or bigger and you’re set.(obviously re gearing as required) cheers!

Still left a couple things up for debate, by giving only his opinion. Like the diff angle changing driveshaft pinion angle. Also diff angle changing how the fluid sits in the diff. 2 of the most debated reasons why not to install a diff drop on a Tacoma/4Runner.
