I'm not for sure where in the timeline she gets married to Glorfindel. And Feanor asked for her hair before the Nirnaeth Arnoediad.

I always assumed she married and had children in the several thousand years between the war of the rings and the events of the Hobbit.

They will 100% be out en masse today.

Galadriel was born in Valinor.
Her hair captured the gold and silver of the sacred Two Trees.
When her step-uncle Feanor asked her for a lock of hair, she refused.
(Which makes her gift of a lock of hair to Gimli the Dwarf all the more remarkable).

Galadriel foresaw that Feanor's excessive pride would lead to disaster.

Feanor led the greater part of the Noldor back to Middle Earth, against the warnings of the Valar.
He intended to make war on Morgoth to regain the Silmarils and avenge the killing of the Two Trees.
A hopeless venture, for Morgoth too was of the Valar, though fallen.
Feanor was killed by Balrogs in the Dagor nuin Giliath (Battle Under the Stars), though Morgoth's armies were annihilated.
For the time being...

In the hidden kingdom of Doriath, Galadriel met and married the Sindar elf Celeborn.
Their only child was Celebrian, who in turn married Elrond and was the mother of Arwen.


As to Cate Blanchett's portrayal of Galadriel being too "ethereal", I quote here a passage from the Fellowship of the Ring.
You be the judge as to how well she captured what Tolkien wrote.

"She lifted up her hand and from the ring that she wore there issued a great light that illuminated her alone and left all else dark.
She stood before Frodo seeming now tall beyond measurement, and beautiful beyond enduring, terrible and worshipful.
Then she let her hand fall and the light faded, and suddenly she laughed again, and lo! she was shrunken: a slender elf-woman, clad in simple white, whose gentle voice was soft and sad.

The portrayal of Galadriel in the Rings of Power is not like the above passage... not in the slightest.
