Don't worry -- you'll be receiving spam from them, in spades. I never wanted, nor have I ever used, the satellite radio feature, and I still get emails from them on a weekly basis.

Everyone different experiences with getting a deal with SirusXM is interesting. So here is my story
I had done 5 months for $25 or 6 or for $30 (+royalty/tax) for probably over a decade on 2 cars. I would mark my calendar the week before it expired, called in on and choose I wanted to cancel option and always got with it no problems. Never once did they have to shut it off, I said I would and they always caved in. I just said I couldn't afford it at the normal rate.
About 18 months ago they told me they no longer do that, but they would put me on monthly $5.99+royalty/tax of $1.11 = 7.10 per car and this just bills me every month on my credit card. This is for XM Music & Entertainment package. (I believe the platinum costs more) It is just 99cents more but no reminders or bargaining hassle every 6 months. I am happy with the current setup.

On a side note, their off-shore customer service reps are very understanding of you personal financial situation and never questioned when I said I couldn't afford their full normal package on my other car or they don't know American cars.

Good luck to everyone on getting their best deal.

Oddly enough, a day after I tried getting the 3/99 deal I got the first mailing from them in a very long time. It was about the free trial event that another user mentioned, 11/23-12/5. It didn't even include an offer for a discounted subscription.

Not at all, you have to have some desire otherwise you wouldn’t be willing to pay anything. Just call up and act like you’re interested then when they tell you the price just be like “OMG it’s that much? I figured it was a few dollars a month, I just don’t think it’s worth what you’re asking.”

I got a free trial for having my truck serviced, 2 years later and it’s still on.

Sirius XM will find you. I’ve moved countless times and somehow Sirius continues to send me invitations to reactive my previous cars radio over and over again.

No Sirius…I don’t want you sub 32kbps audio quality in my car, making me hate music.

On one of my vehicles, I cancelled the subscription and mine is still on a year later as well. Weird.

Every year I get a notice through e-mail from Sirius XM telling me my subscriptions will go up 19.99 a month. What I do is mention cancel or give me the same rate of 4.99 a month and they always give it to me no hassles. The key word is CANCELLING and it works for me every year. Love Sirius XM. Works fine and sound great. just saying

So... when you deactivate an account they send a signal telling the radio that service is deactivated and continue to send it at regular intervals every day for a few months then it drops off. If your radio does not receive that signal it does not know it is deactivated and continues to work.

If thats the case I am good to go. My trial ends in 5 days, but the Taco is in winter storage while I drive the 4runner one more winter. When I pull it out in 5 months I should still have it for free forever. . . . . . if what you say is true.

Did not read all the responses but here is what I do.
My wife likes it and I could take it or leave it. I keep it on her Rav4 and let it run out on my truck.
I have the package that also lets us stream on a device. Platinum I think.
When I want to listen to something on Sirius I just stream through Blu Tooth to the truck or plug the phone in.
With our plan I do have to contact them once a year but at least the last time I was able to do it through their chat online. Told them same deal or cancel and they didn't even balk. $7 and change per month. Keeping the wife happy!

    Meant to add:
When I let it expire on my Tacoma, it took almost two extra weeks to stop working. Then with-in a week after it stopped, I got a couple letters. Now about every couple months I get something from them.

They may have started sending disconnect signals at random points down the road, but I know this is how it worked about 10 years ago.

They are turning mine back on for a couple of months. I expect that at the end of that time, I will be getting emails, letters, phone calls with spectacular offers. I went with Pandora a couple of years ago because streaming is better than the XM built into the truck and XM refused to give me the $5.00/month deal even though I told them that I'd sign up that day if they did. It was a case of a moronic salesman who thought that I didn't know that if I held out long enough they'd drop the $15.00/month plan offer and go with the lower deal.

Satellite radio is pretty much a dead end. XM even partners with Pandora now.

I agree, but I like the satellite option for short trips where I dont want to mess with my phone or when I am out of cell data range

If it helps anyone I was on a promo offer of $7 / month.
It was set to expire and jump to $20 or whatever on 30 Nov.

I just called today. They put me on hold and I got an automated offer for $11 / month.
I said no, finally got a person.

I said “ I am paying $7, next month it goes up, I'd like to keep paying $7 or cancel”
They said no problem and renewed at the $7 / month rate for the next year.
    Entire call took 5 minutes.

Well my XM expires in about 10 days.
These clowns are worse than a cable company. I like the service but they off shore the support and customer service (I can barely understand them) and they want to charge my credit card quadruple when ever a “deal” expires. It’s bait and switch with these morons. If you have a desirable product, why conduct business this way?
I tried the three years for $99 link and of course, I’m not eligible.
Any more suggestions on how to deal with these idiots?
