PEX is the shit! Any new plumbing I do in my house is PEX. Cut the copper and sweat on an adapter of your choice, and away you go!

We did appropriately ground my new electrical panel right at the source of my water as my electrician knew I would be doing such. Was extra money in bare copper, but planning ahead is always cheaper in the long run.

I just use the sharkbites for the first transition then crimp the rest.

My only gripe about pex is the plastic taste/smell in the water for the first couple weeks or so.

I try not to use Sharkbite's now adays if I can help it. I typically solder on a male adapter on the copper and use a female PEX adapter.

Yes, they have solder on adapters, but the lead free brass combined with the lead free solder is a bitch to solder on so I just do it that way. I just wrap tape and dope on the connections. Eventually everything in my house will be PEX anyways.

Use copper on the stub outs. I've run a lot of PEX but I always use copper stub outs. I can't stand it when plumbers get lazy and stub PEX out. It flops around and looks like shit.

Meaning terminate all the supply lines into stub outs before attaching to fixtures?

I think you need to put on the rim joist, raise up the joist you fvcked up to be flush, shim underneath and call it a day.

I appreciate the feedback, I'm just trying to avoid having a visible shim between the deck beam and the joist. I realize that the missing space needs to be made up somewhere, I'm just trying to figure out the most "invisible" solution.

Cut a long tapered shim, the entire length of the mistake, and replace what you cut off. Or just replace that piece of lumber. I’d replace it if it’s causing you this much grief. You’ll feel better in the long run!

Remove the low joist and replace it with a taller one

The most invisible option would be to replace the joist.

Holy cow it’s a pt deck just shim it and move on

If you were building it for somebody else it would be a different story lol then you’d want to replace it

Since it's already cut to length, can you just flip it over?

Does PEX pipes leaves a funny taste to the water?

Someone told this was the only drawback.

For a week or two after you install it, yes. Smells like gasoline too. It goes away the more you use it.
