AmC was definitely a weird company, they had quite a mish-mash of components.

You never know until you try it.
I thought the same thing about Ketchup flavored potato chips.
They aren’t bad, but you can’t find them down south where I live.
I first saw them in Canada of all places.

AMC was a chronically misunderstood company.

My dad loved AMC vehicles. The man had NO taste in cars whatsoever...... I remember my folks having an Ambassador, a Matador, 2 Hornets off the top of my head. Older sister had a Gremlin followed by a Javelin. Older brother had a Javelin. My brother's Javelin was the only one of that list I ever liked as it was the closest one to any sort of muscle car. His was a SCCA Trans Am edition with the 360-4barrel. I haven't seen another one like it in forever.

My g/f has an Altima. Almost 195k miles on it and damned reliable. My pet peeve is Prius drivers. My ex g/f got hit by one of them when we were on a motorcycle ride. Stupid ass mad e right turn from the left turn lane across 3 lanes of traffic trying to get into a Taco Bell and hit my exe's bike directly at the left side footpeg. If she hadn't seen it coming and lifter her foot she likely would have lost her lower leg. If that weren't bad enough, after hitting her and knocking her over putting the Prius on top of her Harley the stupid ass attempted to back up off of the bike!

The engines are great, especially the 3.5L V6. It's the damn CVTs that are unpredictable.

I'm not a big fan of CVT transmissions in cars. They work fine in the right application, like a scooter. Her car showed signs of slipping around 170k miles. No dipstick in the damned thing so no way to tell what fluid looks or smells like. Found out how to make a di[stick from a wire coat hanger so I did that and pried off the little locking cap on the tube and fluid looked foul. Bought genuine Nissan CVT fluid as I read the OEM stuff holds up the best. Drained her transaxle of roughly 4.5 quarts and it was black as used motor oil and stank bad. Fresh fluid helped a lot but I knew there would still be quite a bit of old fluid in there. Drove it about 1k miles and drained and refilled it again. We drove it like that for a bit over 10k and I just changed it out again at 190k miles.

The thought that any fluid is "lifetime" is a joke and manufacturers making it impossible for people to work on their own stuff sucks. BTQ, Nissan CVT fluid is like gold! That shit is expensive!

I would probably go with an SC/Rambler or an early Javelin if picking something from AMC.

Also, how are you supposed to remove a car from atop a bike?

AMC did have a few memorable cars but no comparison to the rest of the American muscle out there. The Rebel Machine was pretty cool, but a big car. If you can still find one the Hornet SC/360 would have been a nice choice.

When police and fire got there we got about 5 or 6 guys to lift up on the front of the Prius and carefully let it roll backwards so it didn't drag the bike and do further damage. After that I had to pry the shift lever out away from the primary case just a little and she was able to ride the bike home. It was only her situational awareness and years of riding experience that kept the situation from being far worse. She seriously would have taken the Prius front number to her lower leg is she hadn't thought to lift her leg up out of the line of fire. The Prius owner was cited on the scene for causing the accident. There was actually a woman leaving the Taco Bell who witnessed it and came running to our aid. The woman driving the Prius is lucky that woman didn't deck her for such a stupid move.

3-car garage isn't at the top of my list for a first place; I could not afford such a house. If I hit the lottery, I would buy a house with a 3-car garage.

Also if I hit the lottery, I would fly to Chicago, pay cash for this beauty, drive it home, and park it in my 3-car garage...
