MESO Total Tail Light Kit

I have a set of 2021 OR tails sitting in my garage I pulled off at like 300 miles for Pro tails. PM me if you aren't offended by the chrome, lol

@MESO any update on production for the vled triton bulb adapters? I was recently involved in an accident and need a new tail lamp; I want to swap my stage 2s over but need new adaptors.

 

You'll have to wait for 3D printing to open up again.

I have a spare set just for this reason. I had to wait a few months last year when I did the same.

I bought some VLED 921 switchbacks in the meantime while I waited

 

Anyone get reduce radio reception signal for FM after the stage 1 install. I have a 2020 TRD OR. I have the reverse parallel parking hyperflash but also my reception is now far worse that before. I have resistors on order, hoping will solve both issue's. Just checking to see if just me or others had it before pulling the HU to check for loose wires.

I never listen to the radio so I can’t confirm that, but I will say I was not impressed with the Meso reds. They exhibited every aspect of a cheap bulb and I’m sure they cost only $10 for a reason. I found they were too bright on low mode and not much brighter on high mode.

I’d swap the 4 incandescent bulbs back into the brake locations (you can keep the Meso wiring and switchbacks installed) and see if the interference goes away. If it does and you still want LEDs, I highly recommend buying 4 red 7443/7444 bulbs from VLEDS instead. Could even return the stage 1 and just get their (VLEDS) new VTAIL kit instead. It’s the same thing as the Meso except made by the people that originally designed the bulbs for Meso that Meso didn’t end up using.

These total tails are a recommended alternative to those, but apparently there's some issues with these as well. Hence,

 

The full replacement tails are questionable for sure, especially being as expensive as they are and not being very bright. With the total tail you can at least run whatever reds you want, those are the bulbs that seem to fail more often from Meso - the switchbacks seems mostly reliable and I had no issues with mine in nearly 6 months.

The bad on the total tail kit is if a switchback dies, you’re back to stock until Meso finally gets more of them in. That is why I’ll now recommend the newer kit from vleds. Plus the new kit bulb blinks at the same rate as the mirror indicator instead of delayed a split second after it. That part of the Meso switchback drove my self diagnosed ocd nuts.

 

Damn you, now I’m buying a VLED tail setup I don’t need !

My total tails have the first production DIR integrated as well as aux reverse output thanks to @Puppypunter

I could frame it and put it on the wall of FBC WHQ. Hah.

 

I think I’m having a Senior Moment.

My Stage 1’s are upgraded to the VLEDS red Brake and Tail Lights, and I also installed the V6 Triton Switchbacks last year.

I remember needing a small rubber washer that came with the switchbacks to install them into the Light housing.

I’m confused why I actually didn’t need the Meso Triton bulb adapters thats necessary for the Stage 2 Kit. It’s been awhile since I added the Kit haha.

Anyway all is working well and I just snagged a spare pair of VLEDS Red 50’s to keep in the console for backups from their B/F Sale, 15% off.
Also I added @daveeasa License Plate light shut off in reverse mod which works great.

 

You didn’t need bulb adapters because those are a smaller 921 switchback. The Tritons that come in the stage 2 are are meant to replace a larger 7443/3157 size bulb so they are larger. Then, beyond those, if wanting brighter you can get the V6 extremes that will fit in the same bulb adapter that the stage 2 supplies.

I tried that 921 switchback and found it was dimmer than the Meso switchback so I kept the Meso. Now that VLEDS has their tail kit, they supply a switchback that is very similar to the Meso switchback (they designed it for Meso). So I now run those and the 50 reds. I returned the 921 V6 switchback since the brightness was relatively dim in my experience.

Well all this talk of spare bulbs and issues is making me paranoid. I have a Stage 2 from one of the earliest batches he did, I think. Had it installed for ~3 years, no issues, but better safe than sorry. What are the bulbs for which I need spares? 7443s for the brakes? And some switchback for reverse/turn.
