Just an fyi amigo but silicone is not used in automotive applications because it traps and sweats moisture which actually causes rust. Urethane ie: auto seam sealer or auto glass adhesive is the is the better sealant to use because it does not do that & it is paintable etc. The one down side to urethane like automotive seam sealer is that you have to dry tool it vs being able to use the old wet finger or wet rag trick.

Considering it only has the oil in it that I poured on it from the underside, these numbers are GTG.

Very happy with those. All lashes checked out, and feel of all rods checked out. Insides were clean without burnt oil. The owner was very happy.

Needing a few more parts to arrive, and this thing starts going in. Waiting on the TOB, compact CTSV A/C compressor, ARP flywheel bolts.

 

Still need to figure out what to do with the transmission cooler lines, as well as how to plug the OEM oil dipstick hole.

 

Progress is coming along nicely. When you have a chance would you ask Mike if he still has that performance intake manifold kit for the 2TR? I may have to buy that at some point if so.. just didn’t know if that went with his truck when he sold it

 

He does as a matter of fact. Hmm. I may need to get with a machinist to have more made. He is looking to have it sold though.

 

Good deal, i will save some money up and probably try to buy it early next year. Perhaps you'd be willing to help me weld it up? It'd be a good excuse to come down and do some wrenching

Also may I ask where you got the bellhousing and what clutch is going in this setup and where was it purchased? Please! I’m getting closer hopefully!

It does indeed mean Good To Go.

The bellhousing came with the transmission and engine. It was all purchased together from the same vehicle. 2010 6.2L Camaro with a TR6060.

The cluch is a Ram Clutch. Not sure which vendor that was purchased through. Most likely Jegs or Summit Racing.

The throwout bearing was purchased from RockAuto. That is the SACHS brand. Good stuff.

 

Damn! I never knew there were so many available flywheel weights to pick from‼️ From 14 lbs to 36 lbs…

I have lightweight flywheels in both of my tacos and i wouldnt have it any other way, i love them. They are a little tougher to get moving from a standstill without throttle input, but other than that, I haven't noticed a downside to them. Revs quicker and less harsh power shifts were things i noticed after the swap. Also, the engine revs will drop more quickly between shifts, so you have to move quickly to get the rev match/clutch release right

 

I have no recommendations. Get what suits your goals for your build. I prefer OEM weight, or lighter.

I’m guessing a billet steel 22#? I have no idea what an stock GM flywheel weight is.

 

That seems approximate to what he purchased. It looks like billet steel as well.

 

Not much to report on the BRZ swap. Encountered a few hurdles.

1: How to plug the original oil dip stick hole.

2: Needed a new TOB feed line adapter fitting. The one that came with the kit, wouldn't fit with the o-rings on. Come to find out that the O-ring grooves were not machined down enough. New one on order. That prevents the transmission from being bolted to the engine.

3: What to do with the TR6060 transmission cooler lines. We found some fittings that adapt right to the transmission housing, and are effectively quick release on one end, and -6AN on the other. Those were ordered.

Otherwise, it is nearly time to get the engine/transmission into the car.
