same - I put it to use over the past weekend, so I guess having it and using it is a plus.

FWIW - Put myself on the “list” / warranty claim for frozen locks / open from the inside etc. Coco (RSI) gave a detailed reply but did not give an eta besides soon. However I did get a package with 6 lock covers in the mail

Received an email from RSI this morning.

"Not sure where the dealer is getting his info from. It has not been confirmed if the new locks will be implemented as a running change on all caps produced in the US or if the locks would still need to be purchased after the fact.

I have been told release towards the end of this year. However, given where we already are in the year, I don’t think this is realistic if I’m honest. I would lean more towards early 2023. I hope I’m proven wrong on this but have my doubts.

I have you on my list and will reach out as soon as all the finer details have been communicated to me." -Lionel Olivier

Edit: Mike can you elaborate on your information? Perhaps you know something he doesn't?

Ultimately Lionel should know better than me and its quite possible that things have changed the last couple months. All North American caps were going to have the new latches, and all the SA caps are sold out. So it may happen that due to supply that some caps will be produced with old latches. They are under so much pressure with back ordered caps I could see where it would be more important to get caps out then continue to wait for latches. I am not privy to every decision that is made and only share little bits that I am allowed. I will help out all my customers when it comes time for the new latches to roll out what ever that takes.

    Hey folks...

Thinking about picking this up, but was wondering about RTT mounting options. The RSI rack bars are pretty tall and the tent will float way above the cab, which doesn't look great. Are there lower-profile options or is this limited by the negative pressure port on the roof?

About 2 weeks ago I called Mike’s Custom Toys. I needed load bars for my RSI cap. Don’t know who I talked to but he was very helpful and got me the right part. Opened the box today and got a little overwhelmed by the amount of parts and was a little confused on where to start. So I called Mike’s back and was helped again. Had a good discussion about installs and RTT’s. Got ready to start knowing what to do and the wife had different plans for me. Hopefully I can sneak into the garage tomorrow but if Mike’s Custom Toys has something that you need or want they are 100% the place to buy from. Wish they were closer but I recommend them fully.

Can try the Ali-cab load bars. They have 3 different options. I know someone who is running the low profile setup.

Waxed my truck yesterday, and it came to mind, didn’t want to mess with the matte finish so I skipped it.

Do any of you apply some type of protectant on your cap? (Wax, sealant, etc.) Doesn’t seem necessary, but I’m a fan of protecting my investment(s) when possible.

Can I ask why haven’t you requested/ordered the ‘made for these locks’ covers? I didn’t have to get them directly from the lock manufacturer (but you could, I have a contact that could set you up I’m sure), I told Lionel about them and that they finally finished them - they gave up on them because it took so long and found those repurposed covers you currently have. he got approval to send me out the proper set. It’s night and day difference in every way

edit: I didn’t know the revised latches would also be weathproof plus the internal latch function. I was under the impression that this whole time it was 2 separate parts. The correct cover would seal the lock/help from freezing and the revised lock would allow internal functions.

either way I’m not interested in the internal functions so I’m set with just the covers.

I am open to stocking the furnlock covers however we have an existing relationship with Retrax and their products are made and shipped from here. I feel like once the new latches are out the covers will no longer be an item we need to stock. However send me the info you have. I am always open to adding new product to our website when there is an demand.

Mounted my Front Runner load bars and the Inspired Overland RTT yesterday. This is the first time I have messed with either product and I am not sure that what I did is correct.
First I removed the RSI nuts in the channels on the roof of my RSI. Next I put in the FR tabs with bolts and installed the load bars following the directions.
The RTT did not come with instructions so that is where we started to wing it. The supplied brackets had a channel that was narrower than the FR bars. So we installed the bolt heads into the FR bars and sandwiched the rails to the RTT. It feels secure. Sitting in the RTT feels secure however it’s still new to me. I’m not afraid of heights but I’m up there.
Regardless of me doing the install correctly my next project is suspension. I ordered a front bumper over Black Friday and that will help get the front end down a bit but I still need an upgrade.

I’m not familiar with that tent but I know for sure that most if not all tents brackets like that go UNDER the load bars and the bolts go in the channels of the tent bars. This will clamp the load bar to the tent bar and will not move.
Also note the front runner load bar weight capacity. I don’t believe it’s enough for a tent and people inside. Max load in the bars is about 220 lbs or so.

He is right about the tent mounting brackets. The FR load bars are rated for 220 lbs dynamic ie driving around. So as long as your tent is about that you are fine. We have been using 2 bar setups for years on lighter tents and have been fine. That being said my bush company tent with gear in it is 220 lbs and the awning bolted to it weighs another 80 lbs. In those instances we use 3 bars. He will be fine with 2.

The tent weight is 87 pounds. I don’t currently have anything else in it and no awning. I’ll look more at the mounting hardware.

I have different mounting brackets inbound. Ones that will go under my FR load bars and attach to the extruded aluminum on the bottom of the tent.

you don’t need different brackets you just need to flip them under the bar and move the bolts onto the other rail. Put the bolts on the rail with the yellow and run the bracket under the rail marked with red. 1B82404C-C290-4833-94DE-08B326BE0AF7.jpg

They won’t fit flush around the FR load bars the ones that are inbound will fit around the FR load bars.

That’s exactly what I explained too but I think the front runner load bar might be too wide for the bracket.
