Well, that's good to know. Have you found out anymore if a kit will be available?
I was wondering why you added water/methanol kit, there is no intercooler. I would not run anything but premium fuel, since I can assume it would be required with the supercharger/tune.
I would also love to have a V8 swap, but not with an LS, but with a Toyota V8. But that is not in the cards for me right now (but a supercharger would be nice though!).

Yeah, if there were some way to mate the 5spd to a 4.7 v8, I’d be obsessed with that.

Yup, that would be a dream! I would prefer the 1UR 4.6, since it doesn't run a timing belt, but really, any Toyota V8 would be nice.

Yes a kit is coming but I don’t know the time frame, sorry. I text the GM and he says they are working on it and they have many irons it the fire right now…

I added the water meth injection kit because it was highly recommended and like I said it cools the intake charge / the air temperature this = more power and helps cuts pre-ignition. I didn’t know crap about this until I started doing some research, I highly recommend you do the same!

I also wanted to have a Toyota V8 but the problem with Toyota V8 engine’s is they are double over head engines. That’s a great thing but if you look at the fire wall you see two AC & two heater tubes going into or out of the fire wall. For weight distribution *I* want the engine to setback as far as possible. If you use the Toyota V8’s with the wide heads they would contact / block these lines. Sorry but at my age and living in Convection Oven AZ I need AC!

Sweet thats good to know, so Magnuson is still developing the kit?

The water/methanol injection is a great idea since there is no intercooler, the only thing that sucks is you have to refill the system!

Yeah, Toyota V8s are very wide, where as an LS is very compact for their power/displacement/rudimentary design.

No Magnuson has nothing to do with the kit they just supplied the blower/supercharger.
But they were the major holdup as the vendor just got the blowers from Magnuson.
And yes I have the only one completely tuned kit. The first tuner tried cracking the stocking ECU but there’s apparently not enough memory/Data storage in the stock ECU! It Ping and really never ran correctly. And I wasn’t about to lose a $6k engine because of bad tuning! Each step the system preformed better. The supercharger kit with a just ok tune ran better. Then the first tuner recommended along with the vendor the water/meth system. Hey if I can install the Snow system ANYONE can. But Tacomaholick, I don’t think he can chew gum & walk at the same time… lol…
After the Snow system was installed it went back to the first tuner again. Much better but still not right. That’s when the vendor & Gabe got together. They made an appointment and I took it to Gabe.
Here’s a photo of where I used the OE washer tank for storage. It holds 5 qts. when modified.
The lower is a vent hole so it can be filled to the top.
The bottom photo if you look closely you can see the blue fitting at the bottom of the washer tank. Then the liner covers the pump from there the line runs to a check valve then across the fire wall to a one way valve then into the blower. I tried to hide as much as I could.
*Edit* What ever you do DO NOT get the Rotrex system it’s a POS‼️ Ask me how I know? I’ve owned one and you are more than welcome to ask anyone else who’s owned one. Asked them how many blowers have they gone through? They ALL break the shaft from the front to the turban. They all Break and not if but when is the question‼️ :pout:

Yeah, the only supercharger I would install on my truck is a roots style, if I had to use a centrifugal style, I would rather go with a custom turbo setup.

If/when you decide to sell your supercharger, do you plan on selling it as a complete kit, or something that would need a few pieces to complete the install?

What about stuffing the 4.0 and 6MT into the RC? Was that available as a stock config? For MT it would seem possible? There are sport trims in 2wd with 6MT and the 4.0?

I guess some of the simplicity of the 2.7 is lost with that swap.

1st gen you could get the 3.4 v6. But Toyota never offered the 4.0 in the second gen RC. I'd assume it would be an "easy" swap. But if you're going to go thru all that work of swapping the engine and trans, surely putting a 4.7 isn't that much more?

Yeah, ROI is modest so a tough sell. I’d probably rather have the 5 spd and 2.7 if given a choice, just would be nice to have some way to swap between eco mode and sport mode.

    Hmmm…
Dave I very seriously looked into installing a 4.0L V6 but I really don’t like or care for the Toyota 6 speed manual as it not the best by a long shot and I looked to see what it would take to mount the R155 5 speed trans to the 4.0L but I absolutely couldn’t find anything. The manual trans behind the 2TR is a very stout transmission as it the same trans that came in some Supra’s sorry I don’t recall the years but it was the R154 I believe just with taller 1st and 2nd gears then the R155 transmissions in the Tacoma. Now I really wish I could have used the Nissan CD009 or CDOOA 6 spd manual but I highly doubt you could find a way to mate them together. I even wanted the Nissan trans to go behind the 5.3 aluminum block L33 but sadly the transmission shifter location is to far back. There’s just so much aftermarket support for LS engines and Tremec transmissions!

I would have like to keep the supercharger but it really burns me that 91 octane is .50 to .80 cents more per gallon here than 87. Gas in Tucson an hour and half South is a $1.20 a gallon less then here in the Phoenix area. Then E85 is so very hard to find an outrageous price. As many think EV, but battery tech sucks plus Lithium batteries are a time bomb! Everyone thinks they are the future because they are so environmentally friendly but does anyone know how they are disposed of? Check it out for yourself. (Venting completed)

As for anyone interested in the Magnuson or any other parts I will be pulling. I’m definitely keeping the LCE header & custom exhaust system. I thinking about keeping the Heltech, I understand you can even tune a stock engine and gan 10% more HP but truthfully I don’t know! I’m also thinking about keeping the Snow injection system as I purchased a kit but had to purchase so much more and didn’t use half of the kit. I would just need to changed from boost activation to RPM activation. But truthfully don’t know yet.

Definitely agreed on liking the 5 speed.

So, a small Toyota v8 might be killer but all the electronics would be a real hassle? Hence LS is the easiest route forward. Makes total sense.

Easiest is to build a forged 2TR then add big boost and properly tune it but not the best bang for the buck!
How’s the old saying go? “There’s no replacement for displacement” Crap I could have purchased a beast, and purchased a 6.2 L!
My hardest decision is what cam to upgrade to?

How much of a lift did you have to fit the 255s on the white one? Both look badass!

I had Icon 2.5 extended travel coilovers, with OME Dakar springs with Bilstein 12 in travel remote reservoirs. I think the model number changed for the springs, that Pic is from 2010 or 2011 I think. Stock upper control arms too.
