    Hi everyone,

I've got a 2000 Tacoma 3.4L. I am having acceleration issues. when I am driving if I press on the gas hard it bogs down for a second before continuing on normally. But only if I give it a lot of gas. If I accelerate normal it all works fine. This occurs in neutral and in every gear. So it must be a fuel issue?

I recently had to replace the MAF sensor, plugs and wires, and cleaned the throttle body and iac valve. After the truck's warm it's idle is at 1000, a little high I think. Could this be a failed iac valve?

    Auto or manual??

Your throttle only gives the engine air ! Everything else is controlled via your sensors and the ECM

It's a Manual transmission! So would it be an air leak? Forgot to mention I replaced the old k&n filter with a dry air filter because it was oiling the maf sensor.

Quite possible your getting unmetered air .

You did remove the throttle body and the IAC for cleaning .

All the vacuum hoses in good shape ?? Replaced on the correct port.

I did remove the throttle body, but I left the metal gasket on. And torqued it back down tight.

I've heard that you can check for vacuum leaks by spraying starting fluid on the hoses, is that safe?

Spraying any liquid that is flammable on a running engine can go wrong real fast.

Have a good Fire Extinguisher handy. I have never done this and do not plan to.

Update, I believe the problem is a bad throttle position sensor.

Water, idle will retard if there's a leak. Throttle body cleaner, idle will advance a little. Doesn't take a lot, just hit hose ends and likely connection points.
