    A lil this a lil that.
    The EH BP has to be my favorite pour of all my whiskey tasted. So damn good. Ridiculous how smooth it is with how high the proof is.

    Thanks. Yeah, thought about waiting to open them but I’m not generally the type to wait unless I already have one open.

    The suspense of not knowing I like not!
    Pretty sure I’ll crack one of them maybe both tomorrow. We’ll see

    I'm glad to see the honesty in the labeling of those Japanese bottles ("World Blend"). Japan doesn't have strict requirements like scotch or bourbon does. Some "Japanese" whiskies don't have an ounce of anything distilled in Japan but try's to pass itself off as distilled in Japan. I respect them for the transparency and wouldn't hesitate to buy one of those. Haven't heard of the Amahagan, but have heard of the Ichiros. I have not had the opportunity to try it... Let us know what you think!

    Trying a barrel strength scotch tonight - 115 proof - thanks to a generous trade deal with @MattJakobs. With a bit of water, I'm getting a bit of banana and that smell/taste you get with a warm rain in a dusty area. Weird, but there is a word for that. It's a very tasty scotch!

    Edit to add - had to look it up;

    Petrichor is the term coined by Australian scientists in 1964 to describe the unique, earthy smell associated with rain. It is caused by the water from the rain, along with certain compounds like ozone, geosmin, and plant oils.

    Picked this up last night, looking forward to cracking it. It’s interesting that they don’t have age statements on their single barrels but according to the website every non rye is aged a minimum of 10 years.

    A LOT of bourbon is at its peak between 6 and 10 years of aging.

    The problem with age stating single barrels is you can't go younger. Say you age state it at 8yr and then you find a top tier banger set of barrels you'd love to use but they are 7y9mo. Oops.

    Most Bookers is 6 to 7y because that is when Beam juice peaks based on the conditions where its made and aged.

    So, simply put, its about flexibility to pull great barrels across the age spectrum. A few extra hot summers can get a barrel ready at 6y that would need 10y with a few extra cool summers.

    Art and science.

    Crate and Barrel (apparently) they are nice and heavy. Good for a lot of uses.

    Round 2. I like this way better than the Bulleit Barrel strength which was kind of boring
