Ah yes, work ethic. I learned a lot watching my parents. When dad retired from the Army he continued to work until he was able to draw 2 pensions and my mom was a commercial artist who moonlighted in real estate. I was blessed to have a 7th grade teacher who literally screamed at me that “good enough is not good enough” when I attempted to blow off tanking a test. And believe it or not Pete Rose was an influence when he was with the Phillies. Gambling issues notwithstanding I saw that every time he took the field he gave it 110%. I was like 18 or so when I watched him and thought there it is, that’s how you succeed, you give it your all. So when I was in my 20’s worked 2 jobs, 7 days a week because that’s just what you did to get ahead. I realized later in life that the success I’ve had wasn't because I was smarter than the next guy but because I out worked him. Still holds true today.

A little something every chance we get.
:rain::pccoffee: Good Morning Porch Pals & Sue! Well, it's just not going to stop until after Thanksgiving, so I better get used to it. Haven't worn shorts in over a week - sheeesh! The rain gave me all of it's 20% while in San Marcos yesterday, and dripped here in town.

Tried the second brand touch dimmer for the living room yesterday, and same issue. No matter what they say, new ones cannot handle an inductive load (transformer). Used to could - but my knowledge is getting old like me. Too much other stuff hanging off the triac these days. I used to hang big inductors on the dimmers I built as filters - they didn't care. Hard pressed to even find the capability mentioned. I did find a few "complete" dimmers, with the 12V step down built in, had to order one of those. :rofl:I found one site, claiming to be Electrical Engineers - advising hanging various resistor combinations off the things; but they all get hot, catch fire, etc. Rather than find the correct product - hang an incandescent low wattage lamp somewhere in the circuit! That's an Engineering solution, all right!

Looked into some wet brines Tom @95SLE , and I'm going to have to get a big pot, that will fit in my cube cooler. Only place I could do that would be in the garage, on ice. Weather not that consistent that it's always a refrigerator out there. I found a couple simple recipes that I'm comfortable with - and I will just have to thaw it sooner.

Look at the toxic fumes during its destruction period, it defends the 'stop pollution' theory alright!

Yeah, I doubt it could be done today but the teacher yelling at me worked. I think back to that time and I still get a chill down my spine.

Ditto! Conventional fires can be suppressed/retarded if any of the three elements is removed. I believe battery fire is a different animal in itself.

From what I've heard, it makes me start to believe in the good old saying "it's who you know, not what you know" about Tesla business.

It also seems Musk has a pretty good grip on how to promote shiny objects to people predisposed to be in love with the newest gadget.

I am not a fan of acronyms either; however, I think I can spell out every word for the capital letters above, except not being sure if my interpretation matches the author's.

Off to a family gathering today. It will be a blast. Younger ones are filtering into the gatherings now, realizing that some of us may not be here forever. SOP
Yesterday, a TV news geek was asking people why they were flying during a holiday rush. Most said gas prices were too high. Stupid question deserves a stupid answer, I suppose.

I will let you know how it turned out. The WSM is fired up and coming up to temp. Time to truss and inject the turkey. I will admit the dry brine will take some getting used to doing. This is my first attempt.

Greasing the palms of politicians will get you anything you desire. I need to ask some astronomy friends of mine how this was allowed to happen. The astronomy community is pretty upset.

Happy Thanksgiving. Our dinner is getting smaller. My sister is not feeling well and will not be able to come to dinner. Everyone have a great day with family and friends.

Kurt the dry brine sure does make the turkey look different, but it still feels the same.
