I agree with your assessment and have lived through a challenge with CBI's customer service but at the end of the day growing pains happen and we worked it out. I've also been through their shop, have seen them work and I have spent more money with them over the years than I would like to admit.
Like you, I think there are some great options and have no issues running other products and doing business elsewhere. In fact, I am looking at CBI, RCI and bamf for another Toyota now for another set of sliders and skids for the 22.
If parts fail on the trail or they don't stand up to their advertised use, I understand calling them garbage but lets hear the story.

The reason I think CBI is garbage is their customer service.

I ordered a bumper from them for my wife’s birthday/Mother’s Day gift for her 4runner. When it came it was missing hardware, however there was no manifest or item list of what should have been in the package. At the time there was no list on their website. It was in a sealed bag with no damage to the bag so I figured everything was in there. However hardware was missing.

I dropped the vehicle off at an installer and got a call a few hours later informing me that he couldn’t finish the install because items were missing.

I contacted CBI on the next business day, the woman I reached on the phone gave me an apology and a guarantee that the missing parts would be shipped out immediately. I waited 2 days and had no tracking info. I sent an email asking for an update. She informed me they had not shipped them and would get back to me. I got an email the following day informing me that “they would be shipped out today” and I got a tracking #. However 2 days later the tracking number still showed “label created”. She made a label but never shipped the item. I sent another email in and got a response 2 days later with a “I’m sorry for the delay I don’t know what’s going on and why they haven’t shipped”

At that point I called in to speak to someone and she would pick up the phone and hang up immediately and did this over and over. Then sent me an email saying she was “in a training class” and that’s why she was hanging up on me. so 7 or 8 days after my first contact they finally shipped the missing hardware.

They BS’d me for over a week, caused me to reschedule my install and waste my money and time. For that I will never recommend nor buy another CBI product again. The companies I listed all have the same price point as rci however they actually have good customer service.

CBI seems to be tan by a bunch of chad bros who could care less about providing customer service.

My mall princess has the MORE offroad skids. I just can't bring myself to beat the living dog shit out of them. Someday, maybe never. The powder coating is really nice. Maybe during an apocalypse? :notsure: :crapstorm: Luckily, they arrived with all the parts.

That sucks. I recently purchased skids from them. Received them in less than two weeks from order date. They reached out after delivery to make sure I was happy. Skids came bolted to a pallet to prevent any damage which I can appreciate. I had all the hardware and install was super easy.

I recently bought a full set of skids from RCI minus the front as I have a TRD front plate plus diff guard and sliders. Got confirmation they were ready within 2 weeks of the group buy on here they were ready for pick up (Local for me). Showed up, they helped load them up and I was off. They said “Call if you have any trouble installing”. Great customer service. I have seen their product on Tacomas that came into the dealer I was a service tech at and they were really impressive. Planning on installing all of them this weekend.
