I ran a wire from the store to the house for internet, was going to run cat5 but a friend told me I better run shielded cable because of lightning. Said he learned the hard way as well. I ran shielded wire, been working good for 5+ years.

My IT buddy that helped me with mine said the same, shielded RG58 or FO. Pre-terminated fiber and the decoder boxes were cheaper than good quality cable!

I ran shielded Cat5, I buried the service cable at 18”+ then partially filled the trench and laid the shielded Cat5 in conduit at about 10” deep to help avoid any interference from the high voltage as well.
The good thing is, the data in conduit is easy to chase if I need to switch it out at a later time.
    Thanks for the input!

When I built my garage I ran a trench as well with 2 conduits and ran a sting inside them... that way when things changed I could pull other things through.. initially I ran a coax and a phone line, but when those things became obsolete I pulled them and used the string to re pull a CAT 6 and another string. Who knows what the future holds.

Pretty sure shielded cat5 is what I ran.

I decided to not pull a 2nd mortgage on my house for copper, went with aluminum at 1/0, 1/0, 1/0, 4. Running a 60A sub. The previous service out here was 12/3 direct burial that decided to give up the ghost about this time last year.

I feel a little behind the times -- I don't have a computer at the garage...
The important things are covered though, I have a CD player. :rockband:

In addition to more capacity everything should run better, you had some voltage drop with that long of a run of #12.

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
Now I have no problems lots of respect. I was bitten a few times by Dogs a few times by my friends Wolf/K-9 cross when we played we both got to excited at times.

She said I was the only one he would be that free with . just like me his hips got the best of him.

It is snakes and needles that trigger a deep seated fear.

No way did I hand trench that, did need to do some delicate areas by hand, but I rented a trencher from Home Depot for $200 for the day. Well worth it!
The machine I was issued had 4 hours on it, it was sweet!

I sure agree, Orlando doesn’t have much rural living anymore, my 3 acres is my oasis. If I didn’t already have this place I don’t think I’d be living in Orlando.

I was glad I opted for the hydraulic Drive version. I almost went with the larger version, but it was quite a jump in rental cost.
