4Runner will probably be first. True 3rd gen has been around since 2016, but it's also a heavily refreshed 2nd gen design that got a new V6 engine and 6spd transmission.

If you look at the time line between the new Tundra and new Sequoia. The Tundra has been for sale over a year now. I still haven't seen anyone take delivery of a new Sequioa.

I think it depends on what plant starts building the new midsize TNGA-F platform first.

If Toyota starts building 4Runner at Baja there's your sign 4Runner will be first to market. Toyota can still build 3rd gens in Guanajuato.

If Toyota continues TNGA-F at both plants I would expect each plant to be vehicle specific, with the capacity to build both vehicles.

 

Seems like a lot of people "in the know" disagree with you. The folks in the industry have been telling us that a '24 Tacoma will be the 4th generation, and that production will start in December of '23. Seems like reliable information to me, and I'm choosing to believe it. If you choose to believe whatever else, that's fine. At the end of the day it doesn't really matter.

 

There have been spy videos of the Tacoma not much word on the 4 Runner, I say we deff see the Tacoma before the 4 Runner

 

Those were test mules clad in Tundra panels. Those could have been 4Runner or Tacoma, or neither.

I expect to see the Tacoma 1st, but the new GX might show up before the Tacoma.

 

The 4Runner had its best selling year ever. It’s old. Super old by todays standards. But my money is on the taco first.

 

4Runner sales have been slumping lately, I have been seeing the same ones on dealer lots for 30-60 days due to market conditions. Pros and other highly desirable models seem to be moving.

4Runner does sell well, 4Runner also absorbed FJC sales since it's discontinuation. Add the market trend of the past five years of people wanting an OR SUV or truck. I don't expect 4Runner sales to be what they were, not that Toyota won't be able to move 4Rs in volume.

I think the Toyota truck bubble may be getting ready to burst, at least when it comes to new Tacoma and 4R sales of the past few years. The new models don't create as much excitement among enthusiasts and Toyota purists, combine that with market conditions. I can't see Toyota building the number of trucks neede to beat their previous sales record.

I still expect to see the Tacoma 1st.

 

Maybe they felt that they had to have SOME change to be able to sell 22/23 models to the people who were on the fence about waiting for 24

 

Totally agree with all of that. I just think that relative to past years sales, the 4R can afford to go another year. They probably don’t like it, but they may need to. The taco has the most new competition right now. And if you go back to the 2nd Gen in ‘05, the taco is pretty damn old too. Yes, new engine, steel, and tech in the 3rd Gen. But substantially the same functionally.

Mid priced vehicles are what the economy is squashing. Many of those are somewhat impulse buys and inflation and payments hurt the middle class’s disposable income.

Heck, I’m searching for a ‘23 just because I want to get another 5 years from an ice truck. My ‘18 is perfectly fine. But looking at the $10k delta to get into a new one, I start thinking ‘maybe electric will have it figured out by the time my ‘18 is 15 years old rather than spending $10k now for a +5 year buffer’.

 

Just my personal opinion, which is worth no more or less than anyone else's, is that you will see inventories at dealers start to increase. Auto loan rates are double what they were a year ago and dealerships are still trying to get their inflated prices for Tacos and 4Runners. Unless Toyota cuts production/allocations or dealers start to adjust their prices to reflect the reality of the market, inventory turnover time will start to increase.

 

Agree much more competition on the pick up side. 4Runner can wait, the only competition is Bronco ans Wrangler, and those are vastly different vehicles than 4Runner.

I think Toyota could have skipped updating the Tundra or left the fullsize market when they could no longer sell the V8. I guess it was a now or never as far as Tundra goes, and that now got pushed back a few years.

I don't know how important NASCAR and the truck series is to Toyota, but I think that's the only reason they are in the fullsize truck business.

Already easing up here in the southeast when I bought my 22 trd mt there were 2 more mt' sports available and a bunch of autos, so I got a good deal off msrp.

 

There 13 solar octane manual trucks in my area … that’s insane. There are also 360 others to chose from within a 40 mile radius… it’s just about as easy to get the truck you want as ever

 

I think toyota just released a bunch of manual only trucks because my local dealer got 2 the same day I bought mine. They must build manuals in batches on the assembly line. Because they are hard to find but last 3 weeks I've seen 6 all together.

I use autotrader.com you can narrow the criteria you need its pretty helpful. 329 total manual listed in US.

 

So still SE Toyota Distributors. Will come with at least $1k worth of worthless distributor/port options. $699 for Toyoguard Platinum alone.

 

Yes they all come from SET and they do tack on some extra bs but I negotiated 3k below msrp. Some dealers will work with the price Some won't.

 

I know it was in 2018 but I used sparks Toyota in Myrtle beach and got my pro for 4500 under sticker. I know times have changed but my family had always bought Toyotas through them and have never paid anything close to msrp. No set bs add ons or anything. Tim Hardeste is the salesman I always use.
