This thread helped me determine tire sizing, albeit I am on 18" wheels. 275/65/18 (same sizing as 275/70/17) Toyo AT3s on 18x9, 0 offset with a 2" lift. No rubbing anywhere and still retain my OEM mud flaps which was important for paint protection.

I just could not find a 275 in a SL so I went 285/70 Toyo AT3s on my 4Runner Pro wheels. No rubbing and kept the factory guards. Alignment, lift and offset was the ticket!

Looks great! I have a similar setup but went with the KO2's in 275/70/17. I'm lifted about 2" in front, Motiv 17x9 0 offset. I just put them on and went for a little test drive. I heard a little grind when I pulled back into my driveway and looks like the front mud flaps will be coming off. I see you removed yours and wondering if you found the same while turning over a bump?

    Looks great man!

I was torn between 275/70/17s and 255/80/17s. Went with the pizza cutters, quite a bit lighter and an extra .5” of ground clearance is always welcome.:)

Nice! The 255 doesnt look skinny IMO I was also considering that as well but driven by wheel daimeter which I should have researched more. Curious what wheel width you are running?

Yeah I was a bit worried that it would too skinny but I’m happy with how it looks. I’m running sema wheels so 7”.

275/70/17s kind of look like 285s on these trucks hah.

IMG_20221115_125747460.jpg IMG_20221115_125953019.jpg I must admit I was looking for some sl rated 275s. Had to settle for some SL rated tires in 285s and on the top setting on my Bilsteins and a little tweaking on the alignment I'm happy I chose the 285s. The ride is so much better and the stance is just perfect. No trimming and just a little adjustment on the mud guards but the alignment was the ticket.

Looks good. What tire/lift are you running? I’m thinking about getting the 275 70 17 BFG ATs. I also have the 4R sema wheels with a 1.5” front and rear lift. I’m staying away from 285s and am trying to decide between this and the 255 80 17s. Currently on 265s. It’s time for new tires.

275/70/17 on stock Trail Edition suspension . Only makes contact with mud flaps when turning.

Alignment will fix it. I'm running 285s and no rubbing on my mud guards.

I have pretty much exactly what you stated. 275/70/17 ko2 on factory SEMA
4runner wheels with about 1.5” lift front and rear. Billstein 5100s up front, and an add-a-leaf in the rear. Factory 1” rake maintained when the truck bed is empty. Levels out when loaded for camping.

Nice! This is very helpful for my decision making. Thanks! Other than the weight of the Es, I’m just about sold on these over the skinnies.

They are a great size. Does everything you need it to, while looking plenty beefy. Only downside is when you park next to someone with 285’s they are noticeably smaller than those!

However, for me, I still prefer having mudflaps and not having to cut up my truck frame and fender liner and bend over the pinch weld and that jazz.

Yeah, not going to get into a bunch of chopping myself. 285s just require more than I’m willing to do and spend.

FYI: I run a 255/75/17 on a steel 17” wheel as my spare. This size is the same outer diameter as 275/70/17 and you get a little more clearance under the back end due to the skinnier spare tire. 255/75/17 is the stock size on some Jeep models, so lots of options to choose from, or easy enough to find a take/off.

Wildpeak AT skinnies are only 52 pounds, vs like 60 for 275 KO2s. And you get a true 33” tire :)

275s are a bit heavy but look awesome, just like 285s IMO.
