It’s not the rate that kills me, it’s the fees…

25 CCF cost me $48+ instead of $16+ …and I’m in the originating state!

You lower east coast folks can thank Alabama, they produce 6 states worth of gas alone in lower Alabama. Unfortunately it’s laden with H2S, but they are trained to deal with it and survive.

The "funny" part of this - remember the Marcellus Shale fracking boom several years ago? That is right in my back yard. It caused all sorts of disruption to folks daily lives as well as some permanent changes.

Not a matter of it being good or bad so much as when the gas companies were trying settle irate people down part of the routine was always "having gas wells local will keep your energy costs down".

    Yeah, right...

Are the points actually closing? What kind of spark are you getting at the points? Is it a nice, healthy blue spark?

They are closing. The spark is minimal.

Have you got a spark tester that will let you check spark along the wire? If you have a really weak spark (eg, if your condenser is shot) you can get something at the points, but it won't have the oomph to jump the plug gap, especially under compression.

Hard to say with old parts, once the points, capacitor, coil changed then you can rule out those, just needs the right point gap. Sometimes the lobe that opens the points is wore also.

    Do those have a condensor?

Yes, have an in-line with a bulb. Tried it, no glow.

Did you replace it? Back in the day, a tune up was always plugs, points, rotor and condenser, maybe cap and wires...

Could be a failing coil too... have you put a meter on it to see what the resistance is?
