Does anyone have a schematic, or the measurements of where the V6 badge should be at on the tailgate? A picture would help. I had a spot fixed on my tailgate, that unfortunately, was self induced. The badges had to be removed to apply the new clear coat. Needless to say, and unsurprisingly, they did not get the badge back where it is supposed to be. I wanted to give them some measurements so that when I take it back it is done correctly. They also didn’t get the nibs out or wet sand and blend in the lines of the old and new clear coat. To say I am livid is an understatement, and I am a pretty easy to get along with. This is also a very “reputable” shop, and does warranty work for the local Toyota dealership. I guess in today’s world expecting someone to take their time and do a good job was expecting too much. Sorry. Rant over. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Wait, they cleared only part of a panel? Typically the whole panel gets cleared even if blending in the panel. Weird.

I'd say take off all the chrome badges and have them fix the paint

No. They cleared the whole panel, the whole back of the tailgate. That is why the badges had to be removed. What is actually considered a “panel” when painting? Sorry for any confusion.

Ok. That makes more sense. What did you mean by saying they didn't blend the lines of the old and new clear?

Panel would be an unbroken surface up to a seam/gap. Ex. the tailgate is a panel, a front fender is a panel, etc.

At the top of the tailgate at the corners. The rest is hidden by the plastic piece on top. The thing that sickens me is that I purchased the truck new and had only owned it for a week and a half before I had to have it fixed. Oh well. Worse things to worry I guess, just doesn’t make it easier. LOL.
