Anyone running these beefy CV axles?

Any links to other threads on these? Double the articulation is a bold claim and the slider seems like an interesting design choice. Anyone running these notice any more front end vib or mpg loss?

If these are legit it's a game changer. Could potentially run a stock width LT kit and get a few more inches of travel. I also wonder if these are long enough to work with the +2" kits out there.

Like everything else, just a search away.

I mentioned earlier no front end vibes.

    MPG loss? o_O

    Why would there be.

Not sure what you mean if these are legit; they're on my rig and I've put plenty of miles through them in varying conditions. They exist.

For an actual LT kit, you use modified Tundra CV axles. These are meant for slightly lifted vehicles only running stock width.

It's a 2 piece shaft vs a 1 piece. I put vib/mpg in the same question because they go hand in hand. How could there not be..

They claim double the angular range... legit or not...

Axle bind is what limits wheel travel. If these can actually operate at the advertised angles it would be possible to design a stock width kit to get a couple more inches of travel.

The extended wheelbase kits use longer axles. There is nothing special about them other than the length of the center axle shaft. These axles can extend... maybe they can be used with the +2" kits to take advantage of the additional operating range to get even higher travel.

Good point on the 2 piece vs 1, but no. Even on the smoothest (newly paved) roads, where any vibration would present itself vs bad road conditions, the drive is stupid quiet and there are no vibrations whatsoever.

This includes driving on E load tires (properly inflated, chalk test), with tires that are rotated every oil change. Squeaking and other noises don't bother me, vibrations do and I've had none with these CV axles.

Yes, I know axle bind limits travel. It's fair to say at this point that my OEM UCA's and King's are limiting my travel, as that would be the case for many unless you own something like ADS, or another coilover with slightly more shock travel and a set of aftermarket UCA's.

I wouldn't go as far as trying them on a wider setup though; why run these in an extended state only to run into axle bind much sooner when you start drooping/articulating?

    Just my thoughts anyway.

For the price I paid for these, I'd say I got my money's worth. Now if only I wasn't too busy to replace them and put quality boots on a new set.

Turns out there still aren’t any companies making the +2” kits for first gens. Would be curious to see how they hold up on any LT kit assuming you could modify them to be longer.

Good to know they are holding up well sans the boots though. Ive been running pretty much the max lift you can on the stock front a arms. Lost the OEM boots in like 500 miles but installed a 1” diff drop along with just some Napa remans and have been tear free for 15,000.

    Thanks for the update!
The video was cool to see the extension in action.

Its a shame the boot tore so soon. what's unusual to me is the seal leaking. did you see any cause for that?

No problem; the community offers so much that I try to give it back as often as I can.

The seal leaking isn't unusual, especially for anyone that off roads and/or has to pull their CV axle more often than a vehicle that sees only pavement. Even less often if said vehicle is at stock or near-stock height.

    @Austintaco

This is the thread I think you meant to post on.

As stated, I have maybe 15-20k miles on top of the torn boots.

Torn boots that don't sling grease too, these axles are awfully tempting lol

So...when the boot rips, you'll go through Rockauto for warranty replacement or?...

Pretty much I have spare shafts too.so I'm not really sweating it.
Also they were almost 1/2 the price. Enough to be worth the inconvenience.

Did anyone catch these are fixed CV’s without a plunge joint. That’s why they can get more angle.

SXS world had tried things like this and failed. They produce way too much heat. That’s why almost 100% of SXS’s have fixed CV’s and 1pc shafts.

A friend designs 4x4 stuff for Porsche and is doing prototype Ultra 4 stuff. I’ll see what he thinks of these.
