lower then during the peak of covid, but not anywhere back down to pre-covid prices. The 2x8x12 joists are about $30 each, 2x4x8 interior studs are about $8 each, the 2x12x16's that I need for new stair stringers are almost $80 each.

I need more 3/4 T&G subflooring to continue with the interior projects, they were around $30/sheet when I first started. Peak of covid- $100/sheet. Now they're around $70/sheet.

I had no budget for this deck, so this is hurting a bit right now.

Idk 7/16” osb is back to $16.40-17.62 here. I was a little surprised given the hurricane damage in the south.

So all this belly aching is over a screwed up $30 stick? Sure prices are up compared to a year or 3 ago but $30 is chump change. I don’t know your budget or finances, but I know damn well you can find $30 and just replace the damn joist and do it right. Loose change from your laundry or end of day pocket dumps? Recycle aluminum, plastic & glass beverage containers? Hell I get about $30 a month just from recycling! Mow a friend or neighbors lawn once, that’s gotta be at least 2 joists right there. Wash someone’s car? This isn’t like solving a payload issue for SpaceX, it’s a piece of wood. :annoyed:

Did you even bother reading any of my other posts before venting your stupidity in here? I didn't cut a bad joist, I planed down the edge of the deck beam a bit too much where the last joist sits. I was trying to come up with a way of fixing it without having a visible wedge/shim. If it were in any of the other joists that you can't see from the outside of the deck, I would have just shimmed it and been done with it and not asked a single question.

Thought it might be. Not required to be in a conduit thru the concrete? What happens when it needs replacement?

Pardon me, chief, but can your mistake be ripped out & replaced with another piece of wood cut correctly, or not? Call it a joist, a plank, a stick, a beam, a fuckin chingadera for all I care. Play semantics all you want, but you’ve wasted now a week or more of time pissing & moaning about this issue. It can be replaced with a new piece of wood for very, VERY minimal cost. Call my post stupid, doesn’t hurt my feelings in the least bit, but what I’m NOT doing is spending a week of time going in circles about a couple dollars of wood. :hattip:

Started a home for my firewood. This town is a rainy one. Gotta get some polycarbonate screws for the roof.
