    Changed converts
My 04 Toyota Tacoma was running sluggish…I went ahead and changed the whole muffler system and converters to,,,When they arrived in the mail the converter only lined up if it was upside down, some bolts were threaded half way on the top and bottom with no thread in the middle…Anyway, I put this system on my truck, put the new sensors also, had to buy spacers because some things were not meeting the other part..I started the truck, it’s nice and quiet BUT it’s running even more sluggish than before and smoking hot from the exhaust/converters…..What is going on?? I thought it would catch fire so I parked it for the night… I have experience in lots of mechanical things but this is puzzling…Maybe I shouldn’t have used spacers and the bolt with no thread in the middle was suppose be be a built-in spacer between the two parts??? I don’t know but I need HELP!!! I can’t afford to buy a new truck and it’s the only means of transportation my family has. Any help is greatly appreciated!

    Welcome to the Forum!!

Just what are we working on the more details the more we can help.

    Mileage / Engine/ Transmission.

How did you decide the Exhaust system was your problem. Just what manufacture ? Denso Sensors?

    Have you pulled any codes??

Fuel filter ? Spark plugs ?

Most new exhaust parts are coated to not rust in storage that always burns off and smokes .
