2023 Tacoma’s no tech packages

I currently have a TRD OF DCSB reserved for MSRP in another state but it doesn’t even have the basic tech package. I did research and I can’t find any 2023 offroad or sport that includes the basic or advanced tech packages. Only trails and Pros are built right now with these options. I wanted color matched bumpers and the cross traffic/blind spot.

Question is should I still get it? Does anyone know why no 2023 has these features and should I just wait for the redesign 2024? Do these features actually cause more irritation and problems not working right or after market mods?

 

Supply chain issues cause them to use available parts on the most profitable trims.

 

Packages depend on your location. SET, it’s Included in the premium off road package

 

How specific do you want? If you’re flexible on color or some options open up your search to nationwide. I found 301 OR or Sport trim levels with premium packages in the US. A plane ticket is worth it to get exactly what you’re after.

 

Sounds like a bonus to me. No bumper sensors to fail.

 

I had an extensive nationwide search for an OR Access cab with that package (cross traffic + BSM) in a color I liked. I eventually found one close to MSRP and flew to pick it up 2 states away. The dealer said they had seen very few tech packages due to supply chain issues. I think they are standard on the Limited and Pro (could be wrong) making less available for the trims that offer them as options.

 

How are you searching I did within 500 miles and nothing with 4x4 OF basic tech package

 

Exactly. I wanted one without it since it's just one more electronic component that can fail. I still wanted the color matched bumper so BumperShellz to the rescue!

 

Yes I’m seeing all trails and pros are equipped but few to non offroad. Would like it for resale value and also just nice to have. Feel like I’m paying up the nose for the most basic crap and only 1 key fob!

 

Don't settle on the lower trim if you like blind spot monitoring. At least get std tech pkg.

 

I would of been jumping for joy if I could have had that on my 22. Less crap to mess up.

 

Sorry misread your post. You are just wanting MTM and sonar right? No premium package?

i search cargurus nationwide search and do moonroof which will search for premium package trucks. Are you trying to stay under $40? There are dealers discounting below MSRP so you may be able to find a truck with more options for a base truck at MSRP. There’s a dealer in Oregon advertising below MSRP and Midwest has several too.

 

That’s my backup plan, how often do they fail though really? I’m trying to picture the brighter side of no issues if in a bender or aftermarket addons complications. It does feel like I’m buying a bogus year that is just BASIC for the same price, haha.

 

Yes just sonar I plan to get Clazzio leather seat covers to dress it up a bit. Yes, anything at MSRP under or depending on package 42k max OTD.

 

Have you had issues with those options though?

 

not sure where you are, here is one with tech package and nothing but smaller options for $2,500 under MSRP. They advertise that they sell to out of state customers as well. If you can handle green! They have several. Found others in other regions too.

I am sure Tech can fail, but my truck is 7 years old and all Premium Tech options still works great.

Does it have LED headlights? That's the only option people really look for when comparing Tacomas. I don't think anyone looking for a used Tacoma is going to care about cross traffic alert. They would probably rather not have the sensors.

 

You say this now, but in several years all this tech stuff is going to be very standard, people will be requesting it as they/us will be sold on the benefits.
