    What year RAV?
Did you have to replace the whole mirror or the glass only?
    I never noticed the similarity.

2016-2018 - it’s a perfect fit and works with the heater, just the glass - part #: 87961-42D20

My new Taco side mirror just cracked, happened overnight without the heater./defroster on. I just got my truck last week after waiting patiently, only a few hundred miles on it. Found a you tube video of someone with the same looking crack and conditions from just 4 days ago. I'll be calling the dealer tomorrow. Our other family car is 2017 4Runner and we have had no problems, so hoping it's a fluke thing and not a sign of things to expect with the latest manufactured products due to the last two years of challenges, ugh.

Does the RAV4 mirror have the blind spot monitoring?

I wanted to share my experience. My passenger side mirror cracked sometime while I was at work. I noticed it as I was leaving the parking lot. I called the servicing department at the dealership and they suggested I bring it in. Once I got there, both the servicing and warranty managers had a look at the crack and ruled it under a warranty replacement.
They stated that only the mirror would be replaced. The whole process took sub 5 minutes.
    Side notes:
I live in Calgary, Canada. I picked up my 23 ORP last month.

Update - The service team at my dealership was terrific, even though it's an odd defect they took care of it after opening a case with Tacoma.

I signed up here just to comment on this thread. I had the same thing happen last Tuesday. 2022 Rav4 I bought in June was parked in my garage overnight in Wisconsin. Came out the next morning and the passenger sideview mirror had a crack starting at the bottom going half way up the center of the mirror. Over the course of the day it spread all the way to the top. Called my salesman, because I know him and he's always done right by me. He talked to service manager and they'd never heard of this issue and wouldn't cover it, warranty doesn't cover glass. I debated with the service manager for a while on the phone, insisting it's defective materials and should be covered. He finally agreed to let me bring it in for him to look at. 10 minutes later he calls me back. He called his area/regional service rep, and turns out in the Chicago area they're having a ton of these mirror breaks. Well, the tone changed very suddenly and now it's being covered. They asked me some questions about it (all related to temperature, use of mirror heaters, etc) and took some photos. So now Toyota IS aware this is an issue. But some local dealerships may not know, so you have to be insistent. If they resist make them call a higher up in the service dept chain at Toyota. I'd expect there may be a recall in the future. But of course the glass is on backorder now! Lol

Yes depends on the trim.. Basic RAV4 doesn't have them but higher trims do.

I have RAV4 mirrors on my Tacoma but no BSM. At least I have heat feature.

Hadn't seen the issue yet on my 2020 even when it was -15 one morning. I use the side mirror defrost button fairly often to.

Mine did the same thing. Just replaced it with a Spotter mirror. Should have checked with the dealership first...

I am considering the spotter mirrors. No expert but can be caused by dull cutting or shaping tools near the end of a run. Re-tooling costs money.

Bump. Same thing happened to me. Dallas froze solid for four days and the truck sat in the driveway the entire time. Parked it with a perfectly fine mirror, hopped in it when thawed and this.

It is bad glass for sure.

Unbelievable, this happened to me. 3 weeks old ,450 miles I looked and saw crack in my mirror. No sign of impact at all and I did use the defrost mode the other morning 5A28FF47-48F2-46BD-842A-3D0B4EF51C7A.jpg
