Is this another thing we have to worry about? First tailgates, then catalytic converters, now this?

This is because gas prices are so high not because vandalism. F'n scumbags!

 

I had this happen on a different vehicle several years back. Lowered the tank, took out the fuel pump and sender unit, installed a petcock. A couple of hours of work, $15 dollars for the petcock, and I even painted the valve handle bright red so that the next thief could easily see it. In my head it made more sense for them to see it and drain the tank then to have another hole drilled...I think gas was about $1.50 so it could have been longer back. Tank was definitely some plastic/composite though. YMMV, I have weird solutions for problems.

How about just leaving an envelope inside the gas door with 50 bucks in it, along with a note saying “here fill it up and please don’t drill my tank”?

 

I fear that today's knuckle-draggin' ne're-do-wells will take the $50 and still drill a hole in your tank for a double gulp soda cup (that they too stole) full of gas.

 

Might as well get one of these.
