That's awesome, my neighbors Chihuahuas torcher all the other dogs in the neighborhood. my Chocolate Lab is 12 and still acts like a 2 year old. She pulled me for 3 miles today.

These idiots couldn't paint right either. Drips everywhere, hidden well by the dark color they used everywhere. All stuff that wasn't caught due to me being rushed through the 30 minute initial viewing because of covid.

@Abeyancer or @0xDEADBEEF whichever of you has played an electrician on TV. My house panel feeds my shop panel. The house panel main feed has a two 60a breakers tied together for the shop, that would be a L1 and a L2, a breaker for each leg and the tie bar prevents a single dead leg from occuring right. There's no way this would be two 60a breakers from the same leg right?

Correct. If they were on the same leg (i.e. L1-L1), you'd have no differential of voltage and the panel wouldn't work unless it was 120V only...

*edit: if you have 240V, it MUST be ran from two phases. If you only have 120V, then it's possible that the phases are tied, but not very likely.

Well there's no 240v outlets in the shop yet, but I'm gonna wire in a heater and a EV charging port. But I also can't imagine anyone running 120a of a single leg out there, that would be pretty dumb.

Each leg would still only be 60A, meaning 60A would trip the breaker...

I see what you mean, my point was that it would be a panel out there that is only tapping into a single leg from the house, which seems odd. I hope you're right that it is 60a L1 and 60a L2. I just bought a 240v heater, and I guess I'll open the sub panel tomorrow and see what I've got. Or maybe the house panel first to see where everything is sourced from. This house is odd.

Regardless, it would be an act of God to get the main panel to be fed that way. I would almost guarantee that the 60A double pole breaker is fed from 2 phases. Check the sub panel. Do you have a multimeter?

Nailed it. Should be able to take measurements at the load side of the 60A breaker in the main panel or on each bus bar of the sub feed. Do you have a picture of the sub feed panel? If there are no 240V loads, my guess is that the sub feed panel only has single pole breakers...

Gotta remember each breaker on one side of the panel alternates which phase it pulls from. Ive never heard of anyone having a panel with one row of breakers only being on L1 and vice-versa for L2.

Exactly. It is "possible" to not have alternating phases, but not likely.

That's very useful info, I don't do household mains wiring ever. I'm all low voltage stuff usually and I had to repair some three phase 208v shit at the machine shop, that's it.

With a 60A main feed, you may be overloading that panel with an EV charger. All depends on the size of the EV charger (most at 50A) and what "continuous" loads you have in the garage...
