There's nothing continuous of any significance, just a little pond pump for my Koi. But yeah I was looking at the lame 30a level 2 chargers cause that's enough to charge any EV I'd get to fully cover my commute.

Atleast he has a somewhat modern Cutler Hammer panel. I think @Speedytech7 mentioned his place is pretty old. Couldve been a dangerous stab lok or pushmatic setup.

112 years old, I have a cutler hammer panel and two square d subs. Thankfully it was redone in the 80s when they pulled fresh romex and took the knob and tube out of service.

You're likely good to go (assuming that the panel schedule is correct). Not really a whole lot of room to add many other circuits down the road after a 30A 2-pole circuit though. Such is life for most people trying to add EV chargers these days...

Thats great to have. Old ass wiring scares me, and I have dealt with it a lot. My place has one of the early iterations of romex, same wires on the inside, just an epoxy coated braided cloth sheathing instead of plastic. Its perfectly safe, but is showing its age in spots thats Ive had to patch.

I finally finished getting all my major appliances on their own circuits yesterday. Its easy to tell the house used to have a fuse box when there's only 4-6 circuits for all the outlets in the house. Nothing was dedicated to anything.

Oh I have one run of the braided stuff, it goes to the Range, maybe they didn't have a high amperage solution in the 80s yet as far as romex is concerned. Our old house had screw in fuses, only like 6 in the box, it was basically roulette of what was hooked to what.

I need to find an appropriate plug for it so I can share with a welder if need be. I don't use a lot of 240v stuff but a welder would be nice to use if there isn't a car charging (probably a ways off for me)

*this is not advice advocated by the NEC*

You could daisy chain the EV charger and welding receptacle off the same 2 pole circuit, but would have to ensure that both aren't plugged in at the same time...

Are there any other agencies that would endorse that idea, I'm not picky...

I just figured I'd adhere to whatever plug the welder uses and put the same plug on the EV charger...

Would really all depend on the NEMA plugs for each. More specifically, if a neutral is utilized or not in either plug type. I can't imagine that either a welder or EV charger would utilize a neutral, but it really is manufacturer/model dependent.

Good point, I'll have to look at what the EV chargers they're pushing at Costco use.

I need to figure out how to camp in 25-degree weather in Utah in mid-march. I know I'll need a new sleeping bag. Possibly some type of electric blanket. I'm just not equipped.

Yep.. I'll need to make a bed in the back and sleep on the side that doesn't have the ice chest.

Might cover the ice chest with a blanket for good measure.
I've been close to that temp, but its been a while.
Grab a roll of Reflectix from Lowes/HD and use some cardboard to make templates of your windows, cut pieces of Reflectix out and stick em in your windows before bed. They'll hold themselves in fine if you cut them right. That'll help heat escapement and help keep ya toasty.
Good low-degree bag. Electric blanket is something I haven't tried but sounds nice.
    You'll be good to go.

I'm sure there are some good guides out there now that van life etc is such a thing.
I was in the back of an 8ft pickup bed when I was in colder weather haha. Even slept in the cab of it, which was actually warmer.

Should I get new tires if I go out with this group from the video? The Cooper MTPs have been good but they are at less than 1/2 tread left now.

    Nice, that looks fun.
Less than half-tread is a hard call. I mean, could you get through it? Probably..would it be better full tread, yeah, likely. I don't know that terrain like some of guys in this thread, I'm sure they'll have a better answer.
I'm of the mind if I were making a trip west and I knew I'd be up against certain topography and I was less than half, I'd throw a new set on before I left just for peace of mind :notsure:
