I got to visit a part of the state today that the Jeep dominated off-road community seems to ignore. The trails are well maintained -- more like Colorado trails.

Now, this had a bit too much current for me to take on driving solo.

The rock formations in this area along the Buffalo are the best in the state.

Talked to some guys who brought mules to go for a ride. I think they do better in rough terrain than standard horses.

@0xDEADBEEF I thought this sign was really cool. Have you been to Jasper?

Yup. No Lyme disease here too. They are pretty tasty. I’ve eaten enough for one lifetime though. It’s wrong but it’s so bad here you could shootem in the field and let ‘em lay because it’s really a problem. Gotta drive slow as fuck at night because they are also idiots

Haven’t spent any real time there, just passed through between kyles landing and various takeout points on the Buffalo. Seems like a nice little town though.

where’s that top pic from? Looks a little familiar.

Gorgeous area, even with the leaves all down.

Water looks higher than when I was at Ponca last weekend, although I think I was much farther upstream than there judging by the size of the riverbed.

On the way to Erbie Campground. I spent the day going up Kyles Landing to Erbie Campground and Historic site. I didn't want to come home.

It turns out the water was 5ft, CFS 1,100 around Erbie crossing. Perfect for canoeing but maybe too much for the 100.
