This summer we are planning on taking a trip to Myrtle beach. I cant decide if I should take my wifes 2010 Corolla S or my Tacoma. The trip is 11 hours each way for a bout 650 miles or 1300 total. Just my wife and 2 kids on the trip.

    Tacoma Cons
    • Out of warranty should it break down. repairs our on my dime
    • With rising cost of fuels, it would take twice the fuel.
    • AT tires, will hum all the way, not too bad though.
    • Just a Tonneau Roll up cover on back, not water tight. If it rains on the way down, our stuff may get wet.
    Tacoma Pro's
    • Its a nicer ride, more comfortable with more room.
    • The kids will have the outlet with extension through back window for their games
    • Its safer (I think) because its larger.
    Corolla Cons
    • More cramped inside
    • not as comfortable on long trips
    Corolla Pros
    • If it breaks, Its under warranty
    • Fuel mileage is like 35 per gallon

Take the taco. nobody wants to be seen cruising around the beach in a wimpy car;) plus the kids would like to ride in the bed at the beach.

    and closer to you too!

I would take the truck and put the luggage in the back. That way you limit what you have to put in the cab to just people and a few knick knacks

I don't think you can unless you find something off the strip. I would take the carolla.

If you're not conerned about fuel mileage, then go with the truck. We just got back from Hilton Head about two days ago and loved the room the truck gave us. It would have been impossible for us to take a stroller, car seat, and luggage in her Subaru WRX and still be comfortable.
    Take the truck!!! :)

I've driven down from Harrisburg, it's not bad. If you're concerned with the rain, put your luggage in trash bags to be safe...I'd rather sit up high going down rt95 than in a little car.

x99999999999 that's why I take my truck on road trips.

Or instead of trash bags, use the 50 gal rubbermaid containers
