Well, everybody says the TRD suspension won't fit an a base 5lug.... I've got a trd set up from mytoytaco, and ill be installing it next weekend. No body has given me an exact reason why it wont work, so i guess we'll find out :) Wish me luck im ready to have a v6 set up on a 5

 hope i make it work anyways.

The suspension on the 5 lugs is different than that of the Prerunner and 4x4 TRDs.

The rear is spring under axle in the 5 lug and spring over axle in the 6 lug. Not sure about differences in the front.

Coil bucket is larger, springs are shorter, and the shock is shorter for the 5 lugers. There is more, but I cant remember off hand.

sure will!! i hope i can offer a bit of info to anybody that wants a real suspension on a base model. My shocks in the rear were all shot to hell! the TRD added 3 inch lift, and the AAL added another 1-2... truck looks funny at the moment :)

You shouldnt have to remove the steering rod. You can disco the sway bar at the spindle.

how are you going to do the front???

the back i can see...but yeah....the front uses all different mounts, control arms everything...they look almost like two different trucks

what exactly do you have for the front? just coils and shocks??

this is to lift your truck, right?\

btw the back...did you mount the bumpstops on the axle or use the stock ones mounted on the frame?
did you use the u-bolts for the 6 lug?

not sure exactly how to do the front.. thats the point of trying it.......

not specificly meant to lift the truck, but to upgrade the suspension thats there since the shocks are shot all to hell, im replacing those as well with the trd shocks from another member on the forum....

bumpstops still mounted on the frame like the 5 lug always had, didnt change it to match the 6, U bolts are from a "aal for 2wd 6 lug only" "this will not work with the 5 lug tacoma". yeah.... it did fit!!! a Ubolt is a Ubolt...... it still worked....

pics a little later today Longhorn, brother took it to pick up a washer and dryer....

and that will give me enough give on the A-arm to pull the stock crap out? Tried once very briefly the other day, but it took forever to get my wheel off since i broke my wheel lock... and i said F*** it. Its that "you get what you pay for" saying... gorilla SUCKS!!!!! :smash:
