The new Prius looks like a game changer. I’d be surprised if they don’t make they’re whole fleet PHEVs in the next 5 years or so.

this was the reason the ranger was discontinued in 2011.

it mostly comes down to power/gearing imo. efficiency can't tow.

Yes, the demand around here is so high for both new cars and used cars the Market Adjustment is justifiable.

Edit: Would I personally pay a Market Adjustment? Hell no, but there are plenty who will.

Believe what you want, in the way everyone who has ten fingers also has two arms, your assessment of the facts does not in any way mean demand is down. You're reading your personal tea leaves and making an assessment which is factually incorrect, and no matter how many times you repeat yourself, it is still factually incorrect.

Because the T4 produces more power on less fuel than the NA6. Said another way, the T4 is more efficient.

As I understand it, the two aren't even close. Why do you suspect otherwise?

    A few.
I was already thinking if Toyota follows the pattern of the Tundra powertrains with the Tacoma that there will be the standard 2.4 turbo as the base engine and a hybrid version of that engine as the optional engine. Hybrid would come standard in the Trd Pro. That would put the power output right up there with the new Colorado ZR2 and Ranger Raptor.

Upside of the turbo is more torque at low RPM, fuel economy and power benefits from tuning. Downside is the added parts and complexity. With extra torque down low, the 4th gen will FEEL faster than the 3rd gen in day to day traffic. Toyota isnt going to be inventing a new engine for the Tacoma so what you see in the Highlander, Lexus and Sienna is what we are gonna see in the 4th gen. The tuning of it may be a little different.

If consumer demand were down, a used taco wouldn't cost more than a new one

How would the 2.4T have an output anywhere near the Raptor's 3.0TT?

For what it's worth, Toyota has been producing turbo'd motors for the last 30 years in the form of the 1KD & 1KZ motors. Those motors are quite tough & I'd assume Toyota will hold this new motor to the same level of R&D and POC testing.

That's inflation for you, plus tacomas have really good resale value. That's why I would buy new.

If you get the hybrid variation. The Lexus rx500h has the 2.4 turbo with a hybrid (it will be different variation from the Tacoma) but it makes 367 combined hp.

The Power outputs for the 3.0 tt v6 are rated at 392 hp (292 kW; 397 PS) for the Australian market while the output for European market is limited to 282 hp (210 kW; 286 PS) to meet EU emissions standards.

Granted it's still less than the raptor 3.0tt but it's close, you get the idea.

I am not generally a new car buyer. But, when I decided to buy a Tacoma, used 2021s with 8-10k miles were only $2-4k less than a brand new 2022 TRD Pro. I went with the new one. Only the second new car I've ever purchased in my life.

They have also made the turbocharged 22r-te (sold from late 1985 through 1988) in the toyota pickup in the states (before it became the Tacoma) which produced 135 hp at 4,800 rpm and 173 lb-ft at 2,800 rpm. It's well known for durability, decent fuel efficiency and good low to mid range torque.
