Thank you. I use a Canon 80D with 18-135mm and 70-300mm lenses. Front row of the flight line near show center. Also in the middle of the speakers so there was no obstruction, nor did I have to listen to an annoying announcer. This was a pretty nice air show. Nothing near as big as Sun N Fun or Oshkosh but a fun weekend of aviation, nonetheless.

If you would like to see more photos I have them on my FB page: Codie’s Photography. Unfortunately I can’t put a link in the reply.

RCI skid and sliders, GoodYear Ultraterrains, HID's, SCS SR8s, lots of ME-SO goodies, Diamondback HD.
I served with some old timers that worked on B-58's. One of them was a back back seater (DSO).
That was back in 88'. I was 19 and at my first base RAF Mildenhall.

Try calling someone at the Estrella Gliderport. They're primarily gliders there, but gilder pilots fly cool stuff and they'd have a better idea than the standard pilot mills. If you're really up for a challenge, get a Pitts checkout from Bud. http://airbum.com/

    Yes, do this:
I'm of the strong opinion some of the most impactful flying/training a pilot can do is aerobatics. You learn you can throw an airplane around, what an upset manuver looks like and how to respond, and just getting comfortable in abnormal positions. It usually only takes a few hours for you to become more comfortable.

I distinctly remember being on the downline of a loop, heading straight down using full throttle to get airflow over the elevator so it can properly do its job, then pulling too hard and getting a buffet because I was stalling the wings by exceeding the critical angle of attack. A light bulb moment for me that really firmed up the theory of how a stall works.

I agree 100%. Aerobatics is an advanced class in aerodynamics with some Gs and fun mixed in.

Aerobatics at 50 AGL will really open your eyes. Tons of fun.

adding the G to my CFI at Estrella actually. Funny you should mention them! I’ll check Bud out though! Love aerobatics, and enjoy the pitts. Moved to AZ recently, and networking has been slow. Appreciate the tips

    Gotta fly the wing.

Looking for a new headset option that is able to be used on deadheads without making me look like more of a dork than I already am.

Anyone here use the Bose QC45 with UFly or NFlight mics? There's a caution about the QC45 having echo problems...Seems the QC35 is actually better for cockpit use. NFlight is TSO'd but the UFly looks much better...opinions?

Just buy come apple AirPods for deadheads and don't look back. It's really nice not having a giant headset on your head when you're deadheading after you've been flying all day. The AirPods Pro's (or Bose buds) have great noise cancelling.

Welcome to the thread! I am still out of Oakland and I imagine I will be there for more than two more decades.

I went to that show last year, it was a really good show. We used to have one that good in Hickory, NC, butthey lost sponsorships and couldn't afford to keep it going yearly. Hopefully that's going to change over the next few years.

I'm surprised I've missed this thread. I've always been an aviation buff, took the PPL ground school back in 1991 but never pursued the flying part, started having kids and couldn't afford it, or so I thought. So, I never got to "drive", but I've done a lot of flying, courtesy of friends with planes, begging rides at fly-ins, and 8 years as a Flight Nurse in the USAF. My primary aircraft was the C-141B, it was a great bird, and I have a lot of jump seat time in one, if I didn't have patients to care for or wasn't doing a checkride or other training, I would stay on the flight deck as much as possible, the back of the plane had lousy windows. I've also got some time in C-130's and DC-9's. I've flown commercially a fair amount, but mostly A320's or B737's and the occasional 757 or 767. The only time I ever got to fly in the B747 was coming back from Desert Storm in 1991, our medivac contingent came back on a TWA charter, Ramstein to Shannon to Philadelphia. I stayed on the flight deck about half the trip, and was in the jump seat for takeoff from Shannon and the landing in Philadelphia. It felt weird after getting used to landings in the Starlifter, it sat really low, and sitting on the flight deck of the 747 you're about 75 feet up when the mains touch.

I've flown in a BirdDog (L-19/0-2) doing STOL takeoffs and landings, and a Helio Courier doing the same thing. Amazing how little runway you actually need sometimes. I've flown twice to Oshkosh with a friend in his V35B Bonanza and lots of $100 hamburger trips with him. Every GA pilot should do the Fiske Approach into Oshkosh at least once in their life.

I haven't flown in several years now, twice with my son-in-law, who is a CFII in Miami and building his time towards the airlines. He does his multi check ride in a couple of weeks, and just passed the 950 hour mark towards his required 1500, and has already interviewed for Sky West and Frontier. He's getting an average of 35 hours a week as an instructor, so he should have his 1500 in 6 months.
