Mine can do appointments too. They're just booked 3 months out...

When I got my DL renewed earlier this year, nobody was allowed in the building except those being helped. And no text alerts either. So I stood in line on the sidewalk for 2 hours. Next time Ill bring a camp chair.

Finally getting around to unpacking. Here's the trail we followed.

See if you can spot the wrong turns

It's less Tacoma and more mod
Bench vise and some home made soft jaws helps, or you'll need some other way to hold the shock body while you work and fill. You'll need whatever spanners your shocks take to remove the wiper cap too. Everything else is just wipes and whatnot to clean with, new seals, and new oil.

Thanks for the GPX. I see it in Gaia. That's a slick-looking mapping tool that you are using.

I highlighted the trail. I've not ventured into that area yet. My usual trails are shown on the map with a lot of pictures embedded in the route. I'm usually to the east and south of that area. The pictures are helpful with water crossings to have a reference when the water is up to know where the boulders are hiding.

A few rains can completely change the way a trail looks.

Here's the step-by-step on the process; includes the tool list. There is also a version for King Shocks: Rebuilding/Revalving Smooth Body Shocks (ADS version)

    • Specialty tools
      • Branick 7600 spring compressor - used to compress the springs on coilovers, for removal.
      • - used to press spherical bearings in/out of the shock eye(s), though you can also use a sturdy vise for this task.
      • Shock / Reservoir Housing Wrench. Note: these are manufacturer specific.
      • Nitrogen Refill Kit, consisting of:
        • Nitrogen Regulator - 0-400 PSI
        • Nitrogen Fill Gauge - Lossless valve, and 0-300 PSI
        • Hose - to connect regulator and fill gauge
        • Nitrogen Tank - It's best to pick this up pre-filled at your local Airgas-style (or welding) supplier, but you can buy a 20 cubic-foot empty tank as well and get it filled.
        • A case (amazon) ( ) to store all the kit pieces in (optional).
      • Reservoir Piston Positioning Tool. Note: you can also (generally) use a 1/4" x 20 threaded rod in place of a special tool.
      • 18" Locking Surgical Clamps - or something long and narrow that can hole paper towels for cleaning shock and reservoir housings.

100% agree on the water bit. I expect this would have been impassible, or at least more complicated, with more water. We saw a 'high water bypass' sign somewhere around where it crosses the buffalo riverbed, but it was dry so nbd, just made for some ups and downs and climbs out.

Paying for rebuild and getting that back would be shocking.

What @Speedytech7 said. One thing i would add to the list is a schrader valve tool.

I highlighted the route that I took in Newton County on Sunday. The trails in that area are super easy to follow using the stock Gaia overland and MVUM overlays.
I thought it was great and I didn't even get near the really beautiful part near Ponca.

That whole stretch is a blast from the water, and also absolutely gorgeous. I bet there were some great views from the trail too.

This was from the Erbie Campground. I'll go back to cross this as soon as the water clears up and I can see the concrete low-water bridge underneath it.

Just a little too much current for a new crossing.
