    Too Stroked,

    Your link is not to the same page as the Tacoma fog light kit;

    Try this one;

    https://www.diodedynamics.com/ss3-led-fog-light-kit-for-2016-2022-toyota-tacoma.html

    Here you can select driving or fog, but in the case of my posts, yellow is the choice thus deleting driving lights as an option. All yellows are advertised as SAE Fogs no matter the power level. Repeat; ALL yellow fogs are advertised as SAE FOGS, no matter the power level.

    Should DD revise their product descriptions/classifications?

    I’ve gone with the Pro’s since that’s what my mother always said of me!

    That link only shows their SAE compliant light options, yellow is only SAE compliant as a fog light. Yellow driving lights are not SAE compliant and not legal, hence not being an option. The Max is also too high in intensity output to be an SAE driving light, hence also not being an option even in white. Go to the general SS3 page and you can see the full specs for non-SAE compliant options.

    Well that’s the only thing my posts are referring to; SAE Fogs. The Yellow Pro Fog IS classified as SAE compliant.

    When shopping for a vehicle-specific kit, DD limits your choices to road legal lights only. This is so you don't inadvertently install flood lights and blind everyone with your "fogs".

    Per @Diode Dynamics , all of the fog light options are SAE J583 compliant. @Yoshi I is an engineer at a competing company (Morimoto)- they have asserted that the pro level fog lights from DD are not compliant, based on results from a third party test facility. As of right now, the rest of us in this thread are simply observers and that's about as much info as we have.

    Anyone think I could get away with Elites living in foothills of Denver and doing a decent amount of travel to higher elevation during winter months? I do not live in back country or mountain towns but hit my fair share of storms here and theee in the early and late hours..

    Same here. I have yet to be flashed when my SS3 Pros are on.

    All product descriptions are accurate! I believe the members above have clarified, but please feel free to let me know if you have any further questions.

    Nice! It may not be scientific, but frequent flashes at you definitely indicate light projection issues or high beam neglect! I know I don’t hesitate to flash someone if I’m being blinded!

    Thanks DD for chiming in! I’m confident I can make them work with some aim adjustments. Looking forward to the upgrade.

    Good call! I lived in Eagle County in the 90’s and my little Nissan 4x4 had KC halogen fogs. They kept the snow melted nicely.

    One other point to consider regarding "being flashed" with SAE-compliant fog lights.

    Even with the most perfect cutoff and beam pattern possible, with very high-intensity fog lights, a good deal of light will be reflected off the road surface. In my experience using SS3 Pros for over 2 years now, this is the only significant "glare" I experience while driving - made worse by certain road surfaces and especially when it's wet. It's very obvious to me when I'm seeing light bouncing off the road, versus shining upwards.

    There has been some discussion about this problem at the OE level, as the reflected light can be very significant. But there's really not a good solution, and it can admittedly be worse when you have seriously bright fog lights (or headlights, or any lights that provide foreground light in any area). Just something to think about.

    I've never been flashed with my selective yellow ss3 max fogs, but I do try and turn them off when oncoming traffic approaches. I love the max's and I'm currently debating max vs pro ss3's for ditch lights.

    @Diode Dynamics this may have gotten lost in the conversation but do you guys have datasheets for the C1 fog lights?

    You guys are already getting snow and temps in the teens. I’d look at the DD Max or Morimoto HXB both in selective yellow for snow use in CO. You can see the reviews for the comparison, but I’d personally go DD Max for the wider pattern coverage.

    I do have those in the queue admittedly, but haven’t gotten around to a review on them yet.

    I actually just noticed that on our site too. It's on our to-do list, we have the data but the datasheet was missed during our release process. Expect to see something within the next week!

    Any comparisons for the short term? I thought I read somewhere that they were almost on par with the SS3 sports?
