Did you extend the brake lines? Or is there enough slack not to worry about it?

I did not extend my brake lines. With all the weight you are running, you shouldn't get too much height overall. If you plan on wheeling with it, or at least doing something that will flex your suspension a bit, then I would suggest it

50-ish bucks (I think they might be closer to 100) for peace of mind, and an excuse to bleed the brakes anyway. Worth it to extend the brake lines for the "just in case".

2 inch block lift in mine driveway tested the travel. The 3rd gen moved up the EBrake. Line bracket closer to the axle than
@3Riverz88 and his 2nd gen. I had to drill and use stubby auto body bolts in the spring brackets closer to the end nearer the driver. Otherwise they couldn’t use the oem location I think the 2nd gens are fine. The 3rd gens are screwed.

Absolutely ridiculous that a modern vehicle has that much lag in the throttle. Poor design, in my opinion. Unless there’s a turbo, there shouldn’t be any lag (and even most turbo vehicles these days don’t lag anymore).

It's the stupid transmission logic, takes way longer than it should to make a decision after input. A tune goes a long way to helping but I still experience the odd hiccup every now and again. It wasn't a bad when I was stock either but every time the truck gets heavier it gets a little worse

I think it’s the 2 stage injection system Toyota has. You don’t have full injection until the truck is floored. But by then it’s too late. So to speak

So, we made it back safely from Texas. The fight had a strong tailwind so we made great time. I don't know why, but American had the luggage off very quickly. The drive home took 1 1/2 hours. Waze took us through East Boston, Chelsea, Everett, downtown Boston, South Boston and Dorchester before putting us on I-93 for about 1 mile and then taking us of at Granite Ave in Milton. Than back on at Willard Street and then off at Furnace Brook Parkway, then back on a Granite Street in Braintree.

    Weirdest drive I've ever had.

i suggested to my wife that next time we go we drive as we did in May. "No." Maybe I shouldn't have offered to stop in Hope, AR again. ;)

We've started looking at houses in the Austin area, but I'm still not sure that we're going to actually do it.

If anyone you happen to know may have been a Lemon Law hearing officer in a possible former career that person might tell you that Toyota was possibly ordered to buy back AT equipped Tacomas for that reason which may have possibly rendered the vehicle unsafe in certain scenarios in their legal opinion.

    Some stuff
    Just "torque request logic".

They make it lazy, and trans shift points low to help with MPGs. Helps with the CAFE requirements.

Should've swapped trucks for a drive while @ casa de crash... I'd like to try the KD. Very happy with my OTT though. Drives much better. Each revision has been better and better.

The truck runs primarily on the direct injectors. You'll be able to tell when it is running the "cleaning cycle", as the idle sound will change, and sound like a modern little diesel, just adds a little tick/rattle. Cleans the back of the intake valves. The delay is the whole Otto vs pseudo Atkinson cycle the truck shifts through. This is where most of the issues are noticed. A tune adjusts throttle input sensitivity, which helps BIG time. Then there will be "surge" later as the active intake makes some changes.
These little 3.5s have a LOT of moving parts.
It tows "okay". But, for every day driving, with a good tune, much better to drive.
I almost turned it in the week after ai bought it, it was so bad initially.

We typically drive, unless we will only be there for a day or 2, etc, or short notice. MUCH RATHER the drive than flying.
