It is good for the US economy to have people waste their money domestically so go for it. It makes those of us who waste our money on imports feel a tinge better. I’d suggest test driving all the full size trucks in case sound of the exhaust is not your only consideration. Good luck.

If you want/need a full size truck, go trade the little taco in. Just don't be in a rush and do a lot of research for what is the most reliable.

I'm not familiar with newer chevy models.

Try making an account on a gm/chevy forum?

I bet they can tell you the best year/model/engine combination.

The GMs are mostly built in Mexico, same as the Tacoma. Tundra is built in Texas.

Ford sells way more trucks than GM and they have no cylinder deactivation on any engine. Ford stopped selling cars altogether with the acception of Mustang, and Fusion SSV which is exclusive to law enforcement. Thankfully I don't think any truck manufacturer has cylinder displacement on any HD trucks.

There is a reason Ram can't move 1/2 ton trucks, it's the MDS.

I wonder how Ford can get around cylinder deactivation? They sell the 5.0 6.2 7.3 the new Raptor R SCV8. They have the new 6.8 coming out.

Does Ford sell that many Mavericks, Escapes, Bronco Sports, and EcoSports to offset their V8s?

What GM Ram and even Toyota need is a Maverick rival in their line up.

I'd like to see how many current Lexus ES lesees turn in their sedans for a Ford Maverick or Kia Soul.

Yeah that has nothing to do with fullsize trucks.

Given the current economic conditions will people be buying out their current lease on vehicles in that price range? I'm not sure if they will be leasing new $55K vehicles. They will probably be looking at less expensive alternatives like Maverick or Soul. People already like those vehicles.

What made you leave the 3.0 duramax for a Tacoma?

Mavericks sell like crazy. Huge demand for small pickup that gets good gas mileage plus the turbo awd one has good get up and go. I wish Toyota would make a good small pickup to compete with it. Make it look like the 1st gen tacoma and be a turbo awd.

I get bored easy and bought it well so I was able to sell it for $4,000 over what I paid for it. Rising diesel costs made it an easy choice. I could’ve ran red diesel but didn’t wanna be that guy just to save a few bucks. Always loved Duramax engines, owned the 4, 6, & 8 cylinder varieties.

If I ever thought about buying a GM I'd just skip it and punch myself in the nuts. Save GM the trouble and me a lot of money.

Price and it's not really a truck. You can buy a fullsize BOF for the same price as a RL. If you want a real truck and wouldn't want to be seen driving the Ridgeline, or need the capability of a real truck your mind is already made up. Before you even compare prices. I'd wager that the Honda is the best built truck on the market, despite it not being as capable for doing truck things, and going off road.

The Maverick is a Ford Escort for the 21st century, that looks cool, should be economical, is compact in size, and it has a cargo bed.

If Ford put a Manual gear box on the Maverick. Holy shit, that would be an absolute game changer at the Toyota dealership.

It's expensive, not compact in size, and doesnt really get good MPG.

Maverick is not a truck either. But I'll accept your explanation about the price.

GMs have too many reliability issues as do the new 2023 Tundras (allegedly).

Mavericks and Ridgelines are Barbie trucks. Anything that is unibody isn’t a real truck IMO.

I went from a 21 Sierra 1500 diesel to a 19 trd or. I admittedly miss the gmc quite a bit. As others mentioned, maintenance was higher and diesel fuel is pricey but it was a fun truck and very capable. I tow lighter stuff pretty often and even though the taco is plenty capable, it’s not the same as the half ton. Hoping to get another half or 3/4 ton one day and keep the taco.

A friend of mine had one and it was 17mpg. The paint did fall off the roof after about 7 years. Needed an alternator @ 80k. He drove it until 150k. No leaks, no bad bearings, no bad cv joints, just drove it.

I would buy one if it didn't look like shit. It's way too rounded.

Just bite the bullet and buy a RAM 5500. You'll never be able to say it cannot tow good enough. Unless you really need a Pete 386 lol.
