Must be nice to be a flat-lander, with all that atmospheric pressure. I'm lucky to see 6-7psi with my 2.5" pulley!

7 psi is usually around the amount you want to be in anyway though.

91 is really all we need for our rigs though.

I'm not very good at installing everything all at once and it was working so well. I drove to work this evening and my whole power band shifted but everything matches up what you guys are reporting so far. I'll hook up the gauge today and confirm. It feels good and I just have to downshift sooner to get in the powerband.

7 psi on a 2.5 is not what I would expect! Put on a 2" diameter exhaust pipe. I'm sure it might create some pressure! So do you have to worry about tuning when you travel elsewhere? Or doesn't effect driveability?

Any pictures of your boost gauge hose routing? Trying to get some clean ideas. Tap it off the back vac hose or the side? 3/8 fitting?

Nevermind. I did find a vac port next to the coolant lines. Sweet!

So are the ruthenium plugs still the preferred choice over the standard ngk plugs ?

I’ve had them in for a ~2k miles and they’ve been great. No problems.
I know others have had them much longer.

Regarding Ruths. I noticed that the Tundra s/c uses the same spark plugs that the Tacoma uses. When I looked up the part numbers and comparison, it shows that the Ruths are one step warmer Iridiums. One of the Tundra forum members called them up and they said that Ruth wouldn't work for the Tundra app."NGK told me that P/N wouldn’t work for my truck. He said something about something being hollow shell I think. There’s another part number that they have that matches the tundra but it’s for heat range 6 on their site and he told me that plug would be too hot."

Thoughts? I've already bought the Ruths for the Tundra build and still plan on using them

I don't know anything about the Tundra. I would need to know it's base Iridium PN, determine it's heat range and then cross compare specifications from the Iridium's they use and see if there is a Ruth available for the Tundy. That's how I did it for the Taco and that's how I did it for my Camaro.

As far as I can tell, both the Tundra and the Tacoma use the same Toyota part number for the TRD spark plugs. So I can just assume the same would be true for the Tundra with Ruths. Just want to ask everywhere I can before I blow up my truck lol

Agree regarding boost, but I'd prefer to run something like the 93-94 octane Sunoco Ultra I ran in college and high school (on the east coast).

LOL! I suppose I COULD do that, but it's not my first choice. ;)

I have to run elevation-specific tunes in my Shelby. I suspect the same is true of the Tacoma, but I'd consult @JustDSM to be sure.

The Tundy's use IKH-22's normally on their boosted application? If so then the Rutheniums listed here will work.

Save that octane for your LT4 Steve. :) They're the ones that need it. The Taco is happy, even with the watered down 91 octane California fuel.

They aren't super high compression. It's just my opinion though. I could be ENTIRELY wrong here because it has been a while since I last logged the 1GR on HPT to see how much knock or lack thereof actually exists when giving it the frijoles.

Yours is pretty altitude specific. It's a little spicy on the ignition timing for your setup at sea level though it could be run there as long as you weren't trying to do top speed runs. I didn't figure you were leaving CO anytime soon ;)

3" pipe was fun because it sounded fast. But you were right, mostly at WOT. The rest would just sound loud. It would drown out the engine and s/c. 2.5 sounds much better and kept boosty noises up. Went back to 2.5 today and made it a turndown

A simplified explanation by Mike Kojima. People may know him from the Nissan Sentra days and he's worked for Toyota engineering and does a lot of performance builds for time attack and formula D.
