I’ve been experiencing some clunking that seems to be getting worse over the last few days. I thought it was an issue with my driveshaft but with my past experience with driveshaft and the fact I just replaced mine about 6 months ago I don’t think it’s the issue. At any rpm I have this really bad clunking sound however as soon as I touch the brake it stops, once I start to accelerate again it continues. Anyone on here have any experience with this type of issue and can lend a hand. It would be greatly appreciated!

    All stock, baby!
Does it make noise in relation to vehicle or engine speed? Or when the suspension moves?

With nothing else to go on, I might suspect a busted motor mount.

Are the brake caliper bolts tight? Pads not secure?

    Bad wheel bearing?

In response to the few questions, it only occurs when I’m driving. I tried giving it some gas when I was parked and there wasn’t any clunking sound.

Try putting in D with one foot on the brake rev up to 1k and try switching to R without the truck moving, see if it clunks.

Gave it a try and I didn’t hear any clunking when switching to reverse.

I can confirm it isn’t an issue with my drive shaft, I swapped it out with a different one just to make sure and the issue is still present.

If you have a broken motor mount or trans mount it could allow the drvshft to move enough to hit something,,,,,,,,,,,,hence the question.

See if your swaybar is hitting the LCA. It can look like it has clearance but might be too close if you've got a lift

Not trying to scare you and it's a totally different vehicle.. but I found a cracked flex plate on my eurovan. It had a loud clicking like a ball peen hammer on a metal table. Some ding dong before me had the transmission out and decided to leave the dowel pins out of the bell housing when he put it back in. That was a fun one to track down:anonymous:

Maybe it's time to go nuclear.. put a wrench on every single nut/bolt in the drivetrain and see if anything is loose

Had something similar, seemed to do it almost constantly in motion. Wasn’t rhythmic, just an annoying rattle/clunk. Turned out to be the sway bar endlinks being shot.
