Good evening everyone. I was looking around and seem to come across viper and compustar. Which is the best? I have a 22 offroad. Not interested in club advice as I'll have one anyways or a kill switch. Most current thread u found was from around 2018 so seeing what's new. Just something loud thats going to notify me if someone breaks in and maybe scare them off. Any advice from people who have aftermarket alarms? Thanks

My wife’s 4 runner has a viper. It’s a 2 way and is set to go off if somebody gets close to it or touches the car. We love it. My Tacoma has a cheaper alarm. (Bought in 2012) and it’s sucks. It never goes off even if I slam the tailgate. Prices of alarms are crazy right now. We bought my wife’s for $250. I went back 2 months later to get the same one installed in the Tacoma and they wanted $500.

I have the VIPER 5806V. It was great until recently last year. The main remote itself kept resetting itself, draining the battery in the process. This has been going on for a year with multiple battery replacements. I finally broke down and bought another remote, had reprogrammed, and everything was fine for maybe about 6 months. Then it was back to the same thing.

I contact Viper and told them about the issue that has been ongoing for about a year. Explained what troubleshooting I did. Took pics and video and sent it to them. All I got was a "never seen this before" and "you are the first to report it" answers. Well, they didn't help any. No solution on their end.

So now Im looking for another aftermarket alarm that wont flip out on me.

I loved my python. I thinks it’s the same company as viper. Ironically, I had it installed on my 04 Cobra
