With some effort, yes. Had to swap from my vest to an actual coat with sleeves; pulled the gloves out too.

To quote the old Ron White joke, there is no temperature at my house currently...


But here on base at least it's a positive number ...

Don't stay out too long Bill. You and I both know how quickly the weather gets mean in the mountain. Hopefully no dead tops around your stand. Be safe.

 

The wars with the injuns here lasted until shortly after the revolution. The Iroquois and Loyalists banded with the British and laid waste to everything in this valley and killed over 300, mostly old men and young boys. The battle known as The Wyoming Massacre, July 3, 1778. I had many ancestors living here at the time and my 5th grand uncle was among the dead. He was 16 years old at the time. The rest fled back to Connecticut until the following year when G.W. sent an army that swept up the Susquehanna into New York State and then west, wiping out crops, people and anything else that lay in their path. That was the end to the Indians in this area. here’s a few pics of 2 monuments that are up the hill from me.



Pennsylvania and Connecticut both claimed this area and fought each other in what was known as The Yankee/Pennamite Wars. An interesting note is that a group from Paxton helped out on the Yankee side. They were called “The Paxtang Boys”. They were given a township here that they named Hanover Twp. There is so much history in Pa. that isn’t taught in schools. I’ll post up some more pics later when I have time.
